Who's going to this tonight then?
Also, does anyone have any stage times?
Stage times from Songkick (so to be taken with a pinch of salt):
The Fresh & Onlys at 07:30 PM
Deerhunter at 08:45 PM
curfew is 10.15pm
There will be a few tickets left on the door, but not many.
Yay, the National last night and Deerhunter tonight = pure dead brilliant. Hoping for lots of new stuff, Helicopter sounds very dreamy
They were sublime in Leeds last night.
more laid back than the last two times I've seen them, maybe cos the crowd was kinda quite. They seemed to space things out more and up the atmosphere. I think there was only one new track played, maybe another but I'm not sure. I really enjoyed it anyway.
was cool about them letting some fans decide the setlist.. dunno if the crowd was really as quiet as they thought, or if they were just really freaking loud.
And they do like to keep the noise and the sounds coming inbetween tracks quite a lot. I've not been to the cockpit in quite some time but I've never seen much of an atmosphere there, maybe the stage is a bit high and it detaches the band from the crowd a bit. I'm use to seeing them at the brudenell too which seems a bit more intermate I guess. It was cool though, I was tired anyway and liked it kinda spaced out and laid back.
don't think I've ever been to a gig there with a really good atmosphere, however well the band play..
Where I was stood things were pretty standard. Plenty of energy from the crowd. Maybe they were intimidated or something haha.
Such funny dudes though. Loved the intro and encore samples. The setlist was pretty much perfect too. Definitely agree about the loudness. Little Kids was crushing. Nothing Ever Happened was predictably mind blowing as well.
Pretty sure they played about 3 new songs. Helicopter being one of them. And a Patti Smith cover perhaps?!
I also though it sounded a bit like 99 Problems by Jay Z.
Just grabbed the Helicopter rip from p4k, you're right I think they did play this one. They did shout about Patti Smith too, my brain has gone hazy about what they played now. I'm rubish at remembering the names of Deerhunter tracks dispite them being one of my fave bands.
Revival rings a bell
Much better than the previous times I'd seen them. Some great extended (kraut)rock outs and streams of noise (the last song).
New material sounded good-especially ESPECIALLY the one about prayer. That sounded just swell.
boring as heck.
deerhunter were BRILL.
Not great. A 7/10 band really, something if you miss it doesn't really matter.
for a support band

was worth the entrance fee.
That was the first time i'd heard it, possibly one of their best.
but perhaps a slightly disappointing show for me. i really don't like heaven as a gig venue. the room is too narrow, the stage is too high and, mainly, i don't like the sound. looks like a function 1 rig, which is better for dance music than bands - loads of thump on the bottom end and too much high end, but lacking in the mid-range where a lot of guitar music operates. maybe it would have sounded better further back, as i was quite close to the front and the speakers are very elevated, but i thought it was cack at panda bear too.
the band seemed a bit subdued, i thought. not as much banter from bradford as usual. i enjoyed hearing the new songs (really liking 'helicopter'). 'vox celeste', 'strange lights', 'flourescent grey', the new version of 'RCE' (ESG rather than INXS, I thought!), were all very welcome, but i've seen the cover me > agoraphobia starter each of the four times i've seen them! i guess i had an ideal of the more less played songs getting an airing. what can i say - my expectations were very high!
despite this (or because of it, maybe), i'm tempted to get a ticket for brighton on monday night and make a hit and run last-train-home trip for it...
did you guys hear the recent coachella set? http://www.mediafire.com/?tzmyqmy1mq3 - sounds like a soundboard - excellent quality audio.
But the biggest problem was the sound really was rubbish last night. Too loud, but still worth it for Nothing ever happened and Fluorescent Grey.
Big up jack_on_fire for boosting my memory with the setlist, and remindeing me to look into the story about the setlist. That made me smile a lot :D
I didn't mean that Helicopter was a Patti Smith cover though! I'd mistaken Adorno for a cover by the looks of things (never bothered with Turn It Up, Faggot for some reason).
Its a seperate scentance in a stream of conciousness styleeeee. I've accidently put a commer instead of a full stop. They did mention Patti Smith on stage at some point mind.
I thought they played really well, and Nothing Ever Happened and Strange Lights were AMAZING.
Know what people mean about Heaven. I quite like the space but the sound isn't great. However, I wonder whether anyone else got a bit pissed off with the lighting? Dunno if it was the band's choice to be completely invisible for the whole set (the certainly haven't done that when I've seen them previously). It looked amazing but afer a while it would be nice to be able to actually see something rather than silhouettes and loads of distracting lights!
i found the lighting from behind really annoying too.
