a beautiful classic, as good as kind of blue. however, jazz should be challenging...NOT SMOOTH...sickos!
that link has the sax solo cut out, which might just be the best bit. find the original!
Miles (of course)
The new Flying Lotus record has some great tracks on it as well, it's very jazzy. Also recommend getting Madlib's venture into the Blue Note archives: it's a really great intro to jazz. Same as his work as the Last Electro Acoustic Space Jazz & Percussion Ensemble, which is him making a series of tracks playing all the instruments on his own (!) in the style of various jazz icons. It's really great, and is on spotify:
a recent release is Mulatu Astatke's Mulatu Steps Ahead (to be found on spotify). Lovely smooth ethopian jazz
and my absolute favourite is an album by sometime Blue Note A&R man Ike Quebec. The album is called 'Bossa Nova Soul Samba' and was conceived and performed by a man who knew he was dying of lung cancer. Powerful and beautiful.
