but yeah, pretty epic
It depends on my mood. Usually it's A Pot In Which To Piss for the breakdown to piano, then possibly Four Score and Seven in my car, just to scream IT'S STILL US AGAINST THEM over and over, AND "I WASN'T BORN TO DIE LIKE A DOG, I WAS BORN TO DIE JUST LIKE A MAN, I WAS BORN TO DIE JUST LIKE A MAN!!!!" all in one song.
Like American Idiot? Only in your Bizarro universe.
because it's so loose and ragged and labyrinthine - American Idiot isn't really like this at all; it's tight and polished and um quite dull
p.s. this is a breakup album, the political stuff is all metaphor
fair enough if you dont like it but make some arguments that arent LOLZ INDIEZ LIKE INDIE ALBUMZ I'LL MAKE EM MAD BY COMPARING IT TO GREENDAY LOL
totally different aesthetic and approach let alone some of the comparisons you actually cite being so wide in scope that you might as well not mention them. "pop culture references"?, "long multi-part songs"?. weak.
saying that i've only actually heard the singles from american idiot but they were so overplayed / released so many that i've got an okay idea.
and musically it isn't really any more adventurous than their debut. which also had multi-part songs over five minutes in length. and cultural references.
so yeah. move along.
so much this
i am really looking forward to seeing them next month
I was in the front row of a show in Montreal a few weeks ago and it was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had.
Just make sure you know every word to every song.
and absolutely loved them, but i agree with you, i think it would be even better knowing them better, look forward to seeing them again
as best I can tell they're playing in a basement of an arts space venue thats actually an old chinese takeaway. it may not even have a stage.
i'm at that gig (camp basement??). should be a good old fashioned sweaty fun box of shouting and pushing and grooving :D
It is a decent-sized, square room.
Still, next month in London! :-)
In Liverpool at the Blood Red Shoes gig. I think they will be supporting but still...awesome.
I got it myself on the strength of the 'In the Aeroplane' comparisons that some were making.
Well the singer dude really sounds like Connor Oberst doesn't he? And not always in a good way.
Hasn't set my soul on fire yet and I'm on listen 5 or 6.
but I don't think that that really matters at all. TA are AWESOME.
I might take up guitar solely to learn how to play that.
no stage? really? EXCITED
