For some reason I just started listening to this on Spotify. Now listening to
anyway, I'm listening to Tiny Cities now and it's wonderful and gorgeous. One of those "why did I now listen to this before?" ones this.
I was just sitting thinking, what to listen to, and found myself typing Sun Kil Moon into spotify. Definitely the best choice of my day.
if u havent before, check out red house painters too....
so I will.
is lovely, thank you
I perfer his actual albums, Ghost On The Great Highway and April both gems... the former being one of my fav albums of all time.
Koz has just announced a new Sun Kil Moon album called 'Admiral Fell Promises' is coming out in July. Copies from his website come with a covers ep including his version of a Stereolab track. I am hoping for French Disco.
Also, I read there will be a cover of the Jackson 5, awesome!
...he did that at The Union Chapel last year and it was BEAUTIFUL.
Great news! I wonder if the same-titled track will be on it? It was a definite highlight on one of his myriad of live albums he comes out with...
I didn't know this. AWESOME! Thanks for the news!
Although it's coming only 2.5 years after April, which is awfully short for Koz these days... and it's called Admiral Fell Promises - a song which is over ten years old. I'm a bit nervous about it.
Still it WILL be lovely to finally have a version of Admiral Fell Promises on record eh? :)
Sun Kil Moon's 'Neverending Math Equation' > Modest Mouse's 'Neverending Math Equation'
the rest of the album is inferior though I find, though it's still good.
Dramamine and Convenient Parking. I heard them before I heard the originals though, so this could explain why.
the originals are the far superior... that and Tiny Cities which is much weaker then the original.
Of the MM songs I like least - Tiny Cities, Jesus Christ and Covenient Parking, for example. But his versions of the better MM ones (Dramamine, Math Equation) I find the worst songs on the album, never mind compared to the originals.
Maybe it's cos all the originals have great lyrics, but the music doesn't always match 'em.
is an indie demi-god.
...Koz is playing the Union Chapel on July 29th.
Yeah it's the 3rd time he's played there in 3 years, sure, but both of his gigs before there have been utterly, utterly wonderful. Especially the 2007 one. He loves the venue, the sound is impeccable and last time he was in a really, really good mood. For once!
in a salvador sanchezy vibe.
now. All just one listen of course, but April made the biggest impression on me. It's got the best structure and 'rhythm' I think. Anyway, I liked that one best so far.
Got to get to work now, but I might listen to some Red House Painters this evening.
some people might say that the first two Red House Painters albums are the best things he's ever done, and probably won't surpass them.
anyone heard the new album, then?
The clips I've heard sound great, as expected.
the mp3 download page for the album at amazon uk sorted me out. Short clips but 'You are my Sun', 'Half Moon Bay' and 'Sam Wong Hotel' are stuck in my head.
