are they any good as a live band then?
They were really fucking good and everyone was having a ball but they finished on the 'new york i love you' track and it kinda took the momentum out the show. Thought they'd have finished on something really energetic.
Still off to see them at the barrowlands next week and canny wait :)
I think they still end with this one btw...
3 slow track encore. a slight downer on an otherwise stellar performance.
So, yes, they are fucking good live. Very tight.
I thought that was a perfect ending... more of a come down than a downer. I was covered in sweat and beer and had had an amazing night and that just made the ending blissful! Great gig!
festival some years ago, probably around the release of their first album. they were really good, very energetic and much more impacting than their recordings. losing my edge was the highlight for me.
haven't seen them since because i didn't like sound of silver.
i am going to see them on friday. it's going to be a different show... i think
Seen them live 5 times. Way back around the Give It Up single in Kings Cross was my first time, Scala, Hammersmith Palais, Astoria and then lastly at the 02 Wireless Fest. Each time has been a complete joy! Annoyingly I have no spare cash to see them this time round. If you do have the cash then get along, dance with merry abandon and lose your marbles a bit.
One of my favourites live. Deep at times, rock at times, always fun.
Go and loose your head.
Hey Albert - been to all those you have. Your fave? I thought Astoria in March a few years ago was pretty intense!
The Astoria show was a cracker, I agree. Loved the Palais gig too. The first one was at a nightclub in Kings Cross, poss called The Egg, they played a short-ish set pre the debut album. Was you at that one too? Lot's of fashionistas if I remember correctly. Samantha Morton was there looking lively. She jokingly kicked my wife up the bum then kissed her before moving onto some kung fu moves. Interesting.
I saw them at Blank Canvas in Leeds, Hot Chip were supporting and they were AMAZING. Seen 'em a few times since and although they've been wicked every time they've never quite lived up to that first time.
Only once less than 100% fantastic, which by James Murphy's on-stage admition, they'd had a 'mental' night the previous night. But every other time it's been mega. Catch 'em while you still can
UNBELEVIABLY EXCITED for it. Probably gonna be one of the best gigs of my life...and I've seen RATM.
Which is funny considering how DJ-friendly DFA stuff is. I heard you might as well see, :gag:, Bloc Party DJs or VHS or Beta DJs.
talking about Murphy/Mahoney, I probably enjoyed seeing them DJ more rather than the LCD live show.
He couldn't even beatmatch.
a few weeks ago. They put on an awesome show minus the song 'Pow Pow.' Besides that, it was the best gig I have been to in awhile.
At the first Supersonic in July 2003 at the Custard Factory in Brum. They were on a stage in the middle of the pond, if I remember rightly. Aces.
And then at the Barrowland in 2007. Aces.
Gonna be there for the Thursday gig @ the Barras. Aces.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah... they were on form last night.
Losing My Edge was classic.
Didn't finish on NY I <3 U.
and didn't play 'Dissco Infiltrator'. Literally the best gig of my life, even though I nearly got me and my gig-virgin NEPHEW stranded in Glasgow for a night, with no money and no options (not even phone battery). It's 2 days later, I am still buzzing, like, out ma NUT! What was the set-list for Thurs?
