Live @ 8:00pm GMT
Flying Lotus and friends on the radio showcasing their sound and new material no doubt.
but I got on after a few trys, so keep giving it a go if it fails at first.
all working fine now I think.
I've not heard FlyLo on the radio since his FWD>> set was broadcast last year and before that it was prob him b2b with Kode9 on Rinse fm, exciting!
sounds good so far! this is gonna be something special
Hopefully I'll be able to download it from somewhere once its broadcast.
mine sporadicly buffers its annoying.
Now I have no idea what is going on or what I am listening to. It sounds good, though!
no words on the mic just tunes! Sounding good though and I think they just played some Guru :'( RIP
he runs Low End Theroy out in LA the club where all these guys do it week in week out.
some serious beats playing right now.......
the autechre six-hour one was up dublab afterwards, and it's them who are hosting this one, so I imagine they'll stick it up.
yeah dublab do podcasts and all that so hopefuly a silent-less version will go up after.
it's nice that matthewdavid is on though.
I believe he runs the excellent Leaving Records,
where you can scoop:
this cool free Him Jenson album
some free, really weird Ras G track
and Dem Hunger's pretty cool cassette/download thing Caveman Snack
COME ON STREAM. WORK PLEASE.
I'm using http://18.104.22.168:8018/ in my winamp.
thought you said Jim Henson was making some strange music for a moment then, puppet style.
and the dude's name is actually Durlin Hurt.
Pretty sure its Burial 'Big Bird' Beven.
I'll check those links after the show, it sounds interesting.
and it's pretty ace. not ideal music to write essays too though.
is that really Mux Mool asking who is on drugs?
spotted Illume Sphere and he didn't seem fake haha.
free d/l off the brainfeeder site.
that one just now sounded like Laura Darlington, right? Which suggests to me it must be "16. Table Tennis ft. Laura Darlington"
Sounding pretty gorgeous.
FlyLo just dropped it!
its buffergeddon on my stream though, fuckin annoyin.
is this Daedilus going mad and choppin it all up?
it was fucked up I've never seen a gig so energetic and like a dance party before in York. He killed it. People dancing all over the place at a gig not a club, hardly ever happens here. Everyone crowded round him after the show too looking at his lil light up boogie box haha
is it daedelus? it's turned to shite
he's kinda erratic, it sounds better pissed in a club when he goes mad and drops bangers and mixes all over the shop with his strange sequencer thing. Its not so hot on the radio haha.
dude must be pretty chuffed to get these kind of props.
Now some DILLLLLLLLLAAAA!!!
or how long this goes on for...
I'm enjoying it though.
I got that footcrab feeeeeling
nice little organ
The Gaslamp Mother Fucking Killer!
One of the most fun ecclectic DJs I've seen, bangs um in creates energy, madness!
killer host, badman sellecta and big ball of energy.
in the building for the next 20
this is THE shit!
This Kode9 stuff is HOT
if its new then its fucked up and dnb is back! hahaha
Old school jungle and d'n'b, dropped in manic Kode9 stylee. Serious dancing like a mentalist vibes.
he didn't go that far at DMZ unfortunatly just did everything but jungle.
Whipping out the breakbeats London style for Brainfeeder is awsome, big suprise that one.
with his jungle.
thats the way dnb should be now its really lost that raw energetic vibe it once had.
it sounded like they jammed on the keys for a bit before doing a bit of bass guitar. Just some jammed loops/licks over some tracks.
'he's got stephen bruner (dude who kills it on the nu-amerykah records) jamming along on bass.'
some maybe he did have some live stuff going down for a moment.
he mentioned wanting to work with Radiohead two years ago but I never thought we'd ever hear it: http://www.ukhh.com/features/interviews/flying_lotus/index.html Sounds like a good combo though. Still waiting on the Burial stuff haha
King Midas Sound!
About a second. Hah. Really love Roger Robinson. Might put that on, after this is over.
(this must be Ras G now, I guess)
love that sample.
But it's got really hot now.
i guess that's the way with Ras G, the first track on Destination There Ep is just like 3 minutes of oscilating synths.
big up his Cloud remix, one of my fave things of his
but the last couple of tracks have been madness.
I think RASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS started when that sample kicked in and finished when you where chatting about Clouds.
I didnt see the seams either.
Glad Samiaym is on he's been a bit quite of late and he's to much fun!
God knows when this finishes, all night would be cool. I've not got much on.
but I think I'm going to have to stick with this lot. bit more fun.
Samiyan is mental, it reminds me of People Like Us' show on WMFU. This rap track now is ace as well.
I cleared my callender for this madness, you don't know whats coming with Brainfeeder. But its always gona be good...
In other news: http://tweetphoto.com/19260520
this kind of reminds me of a much, much better version of when I went to see Westwood for a laugh. he'd play a track for like 10 seconds then pull it off and put on something else on. ADHD-djing, Samiyan makes it work though.
but like your a child again instead of the forced student addition of school discos. I mean when you where super young at a disco and you heard a pop smash you had never heardt he like of before it all sounded like big beats and bass liens hahah
radio rip in the mix hahaha
Wiley>>>>>>>>>>>> when he;s on it
oh, ok. not Wiley anymore then.
hes more erratic than GLK
shes brainfeeder crew.
I went off to make some cheese & biscuits/open a beer/put my dog to bed.
It's just got a bit more electronicy.
I hope Brainfeeder lot do some stuff with rap itself. I'd love to hear the whole futuristic, post-Dilla, deconstructed hip-hop stuff combined with some actual rap. Jeremiah Jae has one or two tracks like that, but they're not THAT hot, and I can't think of that many rappers that'll be up for it.
Nosaj Thing up now I guess.
they twist that stuff up amazingly to make it sound like rapping is a new idea again.
Pritty sure its Nosaj Thing, super smooth vibes right now.
Gaslamp hosting as always.
Hope they go on till gone 11 this morning I've got loads of beer left.
and vibing off the tunes really.
Kode dropping some truths haha
I'll still haven't read all of the FlyLo one Joe Muggs did on RA, so I'll go back to that as well.
I feel constantly inspired/entertained by them lot. They drop knowlegde and beats with ease haha
But I think I've only read the fact one. I'll do the RA one then.
Their RBMA interviews are great if you've seen those? good flowing conversations.
'IN 2040 DUBSTEP WILL SOUND LIKE THIS WHOLE SET PLAYED IN SUPERFAST REVERSE'
chat room matterial.
Tokimonsta on now
stright up party music from all over the place.
kind of slower and building and lots of dynamics. good for this time of night.
wonder who is on next.
"Djing my fab stoner hits. Happy 420" she says on twitter.
apparently Mary Ann Hobbs is stuck in LA cause of the Volcano, hence why she popped in earlier. Good time and place to be stuck really.
wouldn't mind being stuck in LA for a bit.
whats the time in LA anyway? Are they gonna just pop out for sandwhiches and keep coming back for set upon set apon set of fab stoner hits hahah
I reckon they can keep it up.
just warming up then? hahah
well that was damn good.
They're looping it if you wana listen again...
if I knew it only had 44 mins left. Was it just Jeremiah Jae who djed til the end?
Is there anyway to download it and get it onto my mp3 player p'raps? LOVE Flylo but has anyone seen the most recent Mixmag? They've said he's the new Jimi Hendrix.
They might not be far off in a manner of speaking, in the sense that he's off on some next-level cosmic shit and is really pushing forward what's possible within the framework of his music. I gather Cosmogramma is pretty psychedelic, I'm SO looking forward to hearing it, but even more for a proper listen on big headphones and vinyl. I'm not a fan of the whole 'X is the new Y' argument anyway to be honest, but it could be worse I spose.
I do think that such a lot of the energy from the Brainfeeder lot actually comes from the interactions between them all - it's hard to avoid the feeling that the whole thing is so cooperative and interactive that it generates amazing stuff in and of itself.
It works so really, really well when they work together and appears to come about very naturally. I get the same feeling from them as with Bedroom Community.
And if FlyLo is going to be someone who's dead, it has to be John Coltrane ;) The blood is already flowing through him, haha
He's more Alice than John I reckon, with the whole psychedelic mysticism, soundscaping thing he's got going on.
Its gonna be looping for a while so people can tune in whenever. I dunno when/if they'll put up the full 5 odd hours for download haha.
I've not read Mixmag in many years.
until I read that feature in Mixmag, still think that the Hendrix comparison was totally lazy though.
but I suppose there were so many dubs and remixes it would be pretty hard.
A download and tracklist you can link me to for the Autechre broadcast? Be much appreciated!
the tracklist was in a big google document, but that seems to have disapeared, but thankfully percussionlab copy and pasted it, not sure that's complete though.
Volcano Refugee Party in LA
Daedelus, Ras G, Take, Teebs, Tokimonsta all in the mix.
Skip forward to about 1:35:00.
'Hunger' is gorgeous, but he's done tracks with Grace Jones and Bjork! Pretty mesmerising stuff.
I ended up getting a promo of Cosmogramma, so couldn't wait for the vinyl. It's brilliant.
Still lovely though.
i heart daedelus. his track with subtitle is great. they should hook up more.
