I have liked what i have heard of them but their back catalogue looks massive.
Where is best to start?
My favourite album, without a shadow of a doubt, is Extremities, Dirt & Various Repressed Emotions. It's the perfect combination of the early dancey punk stuff and the later aggressive metal stuff.
I'd say listen to their first four albums one after the other. These are the "classics". If you don't like them, listen to the last four albums they've released. After that, spread out to the others. You can't really go wrong.
but the guy who done my Tattoo was in Killing Joke for a short time.
Although I think Revelations and Fire Dances are better than the first two. Night Time is good too.
Extremities, and the 2003 self titled are amazing too.
The wierd thing with this band is that every album is pretty different. Although you can always tell it's them.
I just can't get enough
as they go a bit Duran Duran there.
What's This For..! is a particuarly filthy album - really oppressive. Not listened to it for ages - must dig it out again.
Try one of the comps or something...
I have a fondness for Pandemonoium however. They were the first band I saw live and it was during this 'chugg chug' phase of their career.
I don't think I'm alone though as when I saw them at ATP they played some Pandemonium songs it to close the set so maybe it has become a classic album of theirs.
