I think this was a piece written by Steven Wells years ago. It annoyed me because it was clearly written by a music journalist just trying to gain some attention. Everett True was doing it last year with his music blog.
I have never heard the Pink Floyd or Scissor Sisters version of this song.
It's still true.
They're both brilliant versions, but the Floyd song is ruined by one mood-flattening solo too many while the Scissor Sisters version is sheer excellence all the way through.
It is pretty good though
So yes, Scissor Sisters version is better
All that upbeat camp crap. It's shit. Proper like.
They should give up writing disappointing new songs and do more Pink Floyd covers. It may even annoy Roger Waters, which would be ace.
But talk about stating the obvious...
I have never really found listening to anything by the Scissor Sisters pleasureable, that is until last night...I heard the new single Invisible Light and was really impressed, yes it would be easy to dismiss them due to their awful debut and even worse follow up but this was a massive surprsise.
I never heard the second one though, it just seemed as if they were playing it completely safe and going for the mums and grans section of their audience.
That new song sounds really good, I think they could actually surprise a few people. It seems they have reconnected with what they were originally all about.
BUT their audience was made up of mums, they needed to keep them happy so released an incredibly bland MOR record after. New single sounds fun and this cover, certainly better then pink floyds who launched a boring solo in for good meausre.
No, it's not. It's shit.
The version in that might be my fave.
This song is awful. Pink Floyd's Dark Side, especially Comfortably Numb, is a relic of classic Rock music.
not Dark Side Of The Moon. Get your facts right before spouting shite opinions you massive fucking bellend
Sorry about the rant. You were still wrong about it being on Dark Side though
hahahahah. I win a little bit then
Exactly, it's shite.
where they spent about 2 minutes doing a brief history of Pink Floyd, building up the 'spine tingling classic that is Comfortably Numb' only to play the Scissor Sisters version by accident.
Anyway, Kate Bush destroys the Futureheads, on that song and in general. And their new song had a Bruce Springsteen reference - when the Killers (!) already did four years ago what you're doing now, you're lagging
shite ironic troll
I especially like the fact that it winds up Pink Floyd fans.
I agree it's shit and all that, but I think you've put too much thought into this one.
It's because they're gay you don't like them so much isn't it?
begs the question, what are you really angry about??
y'know, Pink Floyd blow too...
You'd have to be a reet miserable cunt init.
wtf Pink floyds version is way better btw pink floyd wrote comfortably numb not the gay sisters there i said it !!!!!!!
Like the WTF STFU WTF at the start of her comment. Unlike her username, it clearly indicates she is going to disagree with the original poster.
so like some Floyd though (doesn't everyone i guess).
new scissor sisters album produced by stuart price is brilliant, loads of short snappy pop songs and gorgeous melodic electro stuff. comeback of the year after the disaster of the 2nd album.
jake is still an amazing frontman.
isnt it truly a thing of beauty that even today, a rock song being covered by a dance-pop band is something that can attract boiling rage. and they say the kids are apathetic these days. tsk.
