Is this worth doing? Anyone any experiences of this?
Some people swear by it, other headphone experts think it’s a waste of time and all psychological. All I know is, my headphones sound far better after I’ve had them for a while. Could be to do with just getting used to the sound of the headphones, or it could be to do with burn in.. the jury is still out
However, if you’re tempted then get hold of some pink noise (every frequency at once, apparently) and leave them playing through at a slightly higher volume than your normal listening level, with a couple of minutes of silence after every 20 or so of noise. Leave them in a drawer when you go to sleep for a few nights, et voila.
There is a good generator out there which does all the timing/repeating stuff for you, can’t remember where though (just google it)
As long as you don’t have the volume at a silly level and don’t keep it going without silence for hours on end then you should be ok. I’ve never had any problems myself
Or at least, something that the missus can't see the benefit in!
I think I might try this this evening!
I’m just happy to be able to flaunt my nerd knowledge
if done at high volumes (cf. link below). So I guess if I were gonna try it, I'd be aiming to be sure that it's no more than a little above normal listening volume.
I’ve heard dodgy things about the frequency sweep as well, so I steer clear. Just pink noise for me
