For gigs (watching) and clubs. Also, what level of Db filter do I want? And how long is the shelf life of such earplugs?
I got them from Audio Relief, the website.
I got Elacin ER-25s. They totally ruled. Well worth getting.
is there always a local person that can sort it out?
pretty sure there's a map of dealers on the Audio Relief site.
Can they be used more than once without cleaning? For example, if I was at a festival and was moving for stage to stage and taking them out and putting them in again a lot?
I only clean mine every few weeks or so.
I'd probably only get the 15db filter if you're not playing in a band regularly, or if you're planning to use them at festivals; 25db would probably be too much. I get away with using 15db for rehearsing.
just a standard pair for taking to gigs and re-using, anyone got any suggestions?
They're nowhere near as good as moulded plugs, but for under a tenner they're pretty good.
Been using a pair for going to gigs for a couple of years now and they are sooo much better than the yellow foam ones. Pretty comfortable too. I've just ordered a new pair actually.
it's quite expensive to get custom-fitted ones, depending on what you want them for. i had mine done to -20db and think it takes a bit too much enjoyment out, so when i have some money i'm probably going to get new filters put into them, which they can also do.
you can get the molds taken at a local opticians i think, their website has a list of ones in certain areas that can do it.
the ones mentioned above for a tenner are okay for going to gigs, but with custom fitted ones you'll be able to hear more of the music, the cheap ones tend to cut a lot of higher end in my experience.
