1st Quarter Favourite Songs
So coming up this week on DiS Wendy is going to be revealing her singles of the first quarter and we'll be running a bunch of bits to digest the year so far, including - if i finish it in time - a PDF collating the best features and reviews of the year so far for you to print out or fire up on your iPhone.
Anyway, there's been plenty of threads on favourite albums, what about songs? Here's my 10-track mixtape-like playlist (i.e. not in order of how much I like them) of 10 songs i've been obsessed with in 2010, so far...

Blood Red Shoes – Colours Fade
The Besnard Lakes – Like the Ocean, Like The Innocent Pt. 2: The Innocent
The Ruby Suns – Cranberry
White Hinterland – Icarus

I'll second Pantha Du Prince... also Liars - Overachievers, These New Puritans - White Chords.
Thinking about this list has made me realise I haven't listened to many new albums this year.
Scrap the Twilight songs, apparently they came out last year.

We Want War
is very good, yes, and gets better as it goes on. choral work is the highlight
Yellow Swans - Foil

Huh. I deliberately put spaces in to give the pings an alternating stereo flavour.

It's turning into a good year for music already, and it's not even April yet. I'm very much looking forward to the new FlyLo next month, if the previews are anything to go by it'll be spectacular.
I so far haven't heard anything better than the first song I listened to on New Years Day...
Which is Delorean's "Seasun'. I'm not sure I'm likely to either. I quite like the Joanna Newsom song where she sings 'Dragonflies' in a ridiculous way. It's probably called Dragonflies. I haven't listened to much this year.
Few favorites from the top of my head
Vampire Weekend - Giving Up The Gun
Four Tet - Love Cry (Joy Orbison Remix)
The Pipettes - Stop The Music
Gorillaz - Melancholy Hill
The Hot Rats - Damaged Goods
Yeasayer - Ambling Alp
Ash - Neon
Fyfe Dangerfield - She Needs Me
Blood Red Shoes - Heartsink
Los Campesinos! - The Sea Is A Good Place To Think About The Future
pleasantly surprised by all the Erykah Badu love (she's one of my favourite artists but I didn't realise so many of you love her too!)
Just found this thread from Feb about singles http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4243583
surprised at how few i can list
1 Pantha Du Prince - Stick To My Side (Four Tet Mix)
2 Caribou - Sun

Hot Chip - Hand me down your love - See above
Emma Pollock - I could be a saint - songwriting perfection
Archie Bronson Outfit - Magnetic warrior - a badass of a song
Four Tet - Most of it, but Sing or Plastic people stand out
