Not doing a great deal for me so far... Dare I say, a little annoying?
What do we think?
and maybe they'll wind some more White Heat/White Light in there then
I'm pretty disappointed. I like it less than each and every track on Sound of Silver
the frivolity feels a little forced compared to their earlier, lighter songs, and yeah, it's so blatantly nicks everything from White Hight/White Heat and Boys Keep Swinging...
not worried at all
it's the punkest moment of the album, basically
sounds like Yeah but with Pow instead.
They're always kind of hit and miss and the bits I've heard so far are kinda miss unfortunatly. Fingers crossed the album is good.
That in the last year I've gone back and listened to one hell of a lot of things Murphy cites as inspirational and discovered huge swathes of material that isn't so much 'influential', more 'strikingly similar'.
I've kind of always known as much and not really cared, but yeah... what track did I hear the other day and think to myself 'Oh my God, that IS essentially 'Get innocuous'?'... maybe something by CAN? Or Neu!?
Anyhow. I still like the band and all and rate '45:33' as one of my top ten things of the decade, but I certainly look back at 'SOS' as a record with 3 blinders on it, a few retreads of old ideas and 4 tracks which do very little for me now.
uses a Kraftwerk sample, so maybe it was that
better than pow pow.
that was an excellent sentence. need to hear pow pow in context and in full though! pow pow pow.
to listen to this... The potential for earth-shattering disappointment is more than I can bear.
he needs some fresh ideas
a very 5/10 song, the is literally nothing special to it at all
Like it now. A few listens it is just a good single, still think the album will be good. Fearing it being Sound of Silver part 2 though.
It's good, at this point- in my opinion, it's a clear third to their other albums, but that's a pretty high standard to keep up anyway, and i am in no way saying it's bad.
Anyway, the album is definitely a grower that doesn't reveal all it's charms at once. In fact, it's downright obstinate about it letting you hear them- the only thing under 5 mins is drunk girls. It does reward you the more you hear it though, so that's a good sign. Not for people with A.D.D.
And not to be alarmist, but this probably is the worst LCD song I've heard. Still, Pow Pow is much better.
Drunk Girls is so bad, it really has no place on a fucking album. No idea why he included it.
if these guys aren't the most overrated band on the planet...
Drunk Girls = 1/10.
I kinda like it. The lyrics are quite amusing too.
Nothing life altering but I reckon this could be a bar/ dancefloor staple for the next 12 months. If you like that kinda thing...
