Let's be anal - missing question marks, commas or apostrophes where they clearly ought to be.
Can we flag a few up?
they're called Those 3 Guy's
I was thrown by the fact it was a band name so therefore singular, but my gag hinged on deliberately ignoring that...i'm gonna do the honourable thing now...
that's meant to be an abbreviation of The Lads
The Cunting Twat's (I made that one up)
but a track... 'Ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforonedayit'sworldwouldfallapart'. The lack of spacing has never bothered me (or the lack of capitalisation of the 'a' in 'america' for that matter), but that damn apostrophe...
that "Jackie Collins Existential Question Time" from their latest album donated its apostrophe to that Holy Bible song.
but then i remember reading that the apostrophe appears on some editions but not on others. which makes it further confusing.
But "Odessey & Oracle" by the Zombies is a very famous misspelt album title.
Side-note: Did everyone proof-read their responses to this a few times to avoid the irony of a grammatical error in it?
had to google 'emperor' to make sure i spelled it right.
although that is on purpose... not sure if yours is too.
There's more bands that unecessarily end in a period, right? I can't think of any others at the moment.
And also stellastarr* what a bad name.
What Will We Be...
has missing apostrophes, but its deliberate.
I know it's, like, a THING, but what's up with that? Sonic Youth does it all the time (see: Kill Yr. Idols), and I happen to use it in text messages, BUT REALLY, WHERE DID THIS START?
As for artists... How about ?uestlove? Does that get to anyone? Or Will.I.Am? Panic! At The Disco?
yes, see also Tuff Gnarl, Kotton Krown, Becuz
Sunn O))) wtf?
it's the logo of the brand of amplifier they named themselves after. like this: http://www.jedistar.com/images/sunn_amp.jpg
It's just said "Sun," but written kinda funny for effect.
Isn't really wrong or anything but its still a bit annoying.
but the exclamation mark can be used mid-sentence. It tends to have fallen out of use in recent times, maybe there's some confusion because it's similar in style to a full stop.
You are marvelous. Thanks! for the info. =D
'Mr Your on Fire Mr'
I thought it was just bad tagging, but no :(
but 'We are a Black Box Recorders' by The Copperpot Journals has always confused and bewildered me. And it's not just a mis-print as he sings it like that too.
I like it though.
I was going to post that. Such an underrated band, pity they didn't carry on for another record.
because they're consistent about it, but I find Jo Fo's insistence on using 'yr' instead of you're a bit annoying. I am a txt-speak snob though.
Oh Jarvis, you failed me :(
If it's the apostrophe you're objecting to, it's okay there. The pluralization of a single letter takes an apostrophe, to avoid confusion. It's particularly important with something like 'straight A's' vs. 'straight as', but fine here too.
'Sorted for Es and Wizz' would be correct. Capitalisation achieves the necessary certainty without using punctuation incorrectly.
It's 'the 90s', not 'the 90's' or other variants.
And surely thePulp song should be spelling it 'Whizz'?
but it certainly is surprising/ironic considering the literate/literary nature of the lyrics (it's spelt 'Cemetry', by the way).
Would make more sense as The dBs
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced
Bob Dylan - 'What Was It You Wanted'
Busta Rhymes - 'What Can You Do When You're Branded'
The Libertines - 'What Became Of The Likely Lads'
The Walkmen - 'What's In It For Me'
Eels - 'Whatever Happened To Soy Bomb'
Pretty much everything
Cuz I Love You
Look Wot You Dun
Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me
I didn't read this thread properly, it's just punctuation, oh bloody hell
although I think they've stopped doing it like this now.
always annoyed me because Felix is a particularly middle-class name, plus if you were going that far to change "the" into "da" you'd sort a few other things to make it consistent like turning housecat into housekat
I prefer to refer to the songs as:
I Still Haven't Found That For Which I'm Looking
Stuck In A Moment Out Of Which You Can't Get
bonus points for the artwork
Annoyed me back then, still annoys me now!
I hate looking at it.
pretty sure they did it on purpose.
