What should I ask them then?
(If you think a person's question is a good one, maybe 'this' it?)
Do you think you look more like John Terry or that guy off of Whose Line Is It Anyway?
What the bloody jesus you jibbering on about there then?
with some younger girl?
thats how i read it anyway, his words are beautiful..
and then when are you going to become the galaxy before becoming the universe?
Green gloves, blue blazer, red ribbon, beloved white shirt etc. etc. There are loads more. Is Matt secretly a fashion whore?
and then giggle. And squeal. And then faint with excitement.
This is what I would do.
to the broody indie rock of the last two.
I'd ask about their writing process...I'd ask about the new album...
...and then I'd say, "Hey Matt. Remember that show in Los Angeles in 05...where half the audience left after Clap Your Hands Say Yeah played...and you got all pissed off...let me just say CYHSY sucked and you guys put on one of the best shows of my life. Thanks for that."
You used to do that and now you don't.
of that new song, had him yelling the odd line
Ask them if they've ever been to Beverley Road in Hull and if they've ever done the 'Bev Run' - a pint in each pub then the top shelf in the last one?
Good work on the interview, I hope they're as brilliant people as their music is amazing.
Hopefully he still is!
Cheers for the suggestions poeple. Keep 'em coming...
Have you any suggestions for titles of future National related threads for DiS?
ACTUALLY, scrap that...can i come along? i'll be your PA / photographer / anything.
That a short while after releasing a song with the lyric "praying for Pavement to get back together", Pavement indeed got back together.
"praying for it to rain choclate and sex and money all over every member of the DiS community".
That would be good.
what happened to the band after sad songs?
cos like, theres such a marked improvement in the material after. (not that its rubbish but cherry tree onwards is like, golden..) in my head they went to france and did voodoo stuff, but id like to know if there was like, some concious decisions or everything just gelled, like you'd found YOUR sound or something.
also, I LOVE YOUR BAND THANK YOU
were bad, but what happened? Like a shift from second into fifth gear.
I would ask about the All The Wine lyrics. Never fail to make me feel good each time I hear it...
It's odd isn't it?
'Sad songs...' has glimmers of greatness but really, something MONUMENTAL changed prior to 'Cherry Tree'.
to play 'you've done it again, virginia' at one of their london shows.
If Obama became Mr November (they made badges and everything), do they still think "he won't fuck us over"?
which director's they'd most like to work with on a film soundtrack? and maybe for their favourite films and books? i wanna bathe in whatever bleakness their minds are washed in.
what they think about most 'new' bands not being allowed time to develop, and how they've coped with such a slow pace of progress compared to how amazing they've become? or are they naturally patient people? have they benefited from being left to grow in their own time, without much public or label pressure? or do they just think what they're doing is indulgent and doesn't warrant all the fanboy rantings about how amazing-balls they are? [am sure there's a good question in here, just not had any caffeine yet!]
I might just add my Flickr username and design portfolio whilst I'm at it and be done with it...
Is it Seany T?
...Royal Albert Hall show. I have tickets but can't go.
Ask them to play Leicester.
