'Electrosnake' streaming here... http://ryanada.ms/
Not just another 'Werewolph' style dick-around project apparently.
Probably not going to buy it though.
I'm pretty sure I hate him for being so prolific. I just want him to learn quality control and just release the really really amazing things. Then in 15 years when he has no creativity any more he could live off his legacy and sell endless B-side box sets.
over the years - Suicide Handbook, 24 Hours, Destroyer, The Sweden Sessions, even Sad Dracula. Yet he sees fit to put this out.
a lot of it was meant to come out as a boxset (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20:20_(box_set) ) but obviously that has never happened.
kinda grungy sounding!!
...in a 'I-don't-need-this' kinda way
Infinitely more interesting than the 'rock' tracks on cardinology which felt like he'd just turned up in the studio 30 seconds beforehand and muttered over some average dad band.
Ryan Adams' failures should be specatcular car crashes, never normal. I'm glad he's done this, he'd obviously grown tired of music and his time away's served him well. I'd love him to revisit his crazy efforts at hitting all genres with a more earnest approach. Some of his rap lyrics were hilarious.
So long as it's better than Cardinology, then it's got to be worth a listen.
not bad though...didn't outstay it's welcome...will have probably forgotten all about it in 6 months time.
Does anyone else miss the times when he didn't believe he was some kind of a rock god and just wrote ace songs ?
From 2 albums of boring radio rock to silly dips into metal? Seems like he's losing it. Not in a cool, amazingly-productive 'Love Is Hell' sense of losing it either.
I think we've heard the best the 2001-02 brigade has to offer us. Oh well. Step up, 2010s.
Heartbreaker was an album of unadulterated quality. Among the 20 best records I heard from the last decade.

I'm a RA fanboy so I caved and bought this... Even though I think it will be shite.
Orion...Oh Ryan :(
Still, pre-ordered this last night. I fully expect it to be the worst thing he's ever released - officially at least. Tonnes more stuff on the way soon though apparently.
1. "Signal Fade"
2. "Imminent Galactic War"
4. "Fire Away"
5. "Defenders of the Galaxy"
6. "Fire and Ice"
7. "By Force"
8. "Ghorgon, Master of War"
10. "Electro Snake"
11. "Victims of the Ice Brigade"
12. "2,000 Ships"
14. "End of Days"
I'm hoping, at least, for a Rock & Roll Pt. 2, with sci-fi lyrics... Which would at the very least be a fun listen.
And this gets the thumbs up too.
"This will not be an issue. The record can be re-pressed in no time flat now that the mother exists. A bunch of people won't like it and you can buy theirs. Look if people don't get it they will be able to order more. I was joking about the wait (sort of ). It's a non issue really. Let's see what happens.
If it were the new Hall and Oates record then maybe it would be underpressed but I mean this is an album with a song called Gorgon Master of War... we're gonna be ok."
I don't need to hear this record, that it exists is undisputably the best thing about music in 2010.
clearly the best thing released this year
Did you buy it? I'm still waiting on my vinyl to arrive. Trying to avoid YouTube clips and downloads. I wanna blast this bad-boy as intended.
downloaded it because i'm naughty and also i don't buy vinyl. it's fucking hilarious, though. DISAPYYYYYRRRRAMIIDDDDDDDDD! i'd deffo give him some money if it was available in a format i wanted :'(
I'm surprised he didn't offer a digital download option. I mean, even for $5 just so those who want it but dont care for vinyl [or didnt wanna be ripped off for postage costs] could obtain it legally.
Specifically the 'Cardinals III/IV' double album that he's been talking up for a while. He just posted a Facebook update showing himself holding a couple of LPs with the text "Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, "III/IV" Double LP, ( unreleased and in the vault since 2006 ) fresh from the mastering plant!"
What is to him "Love Is Hell pt. 3"
The 'Blackhole' LP.
Possibly my favourite musician ever and I haven't listened to him in a long time. Will be spending most of tomorrow re-visiting a lot of his stuff and looking forward to hearing what's coming up. Excited to hear that he's writing new stuff again as well as actually releasing some of the stuff he's been sitting on all this time.
is actually brilliant
...can't wait to hear 'Cardinals III/IV' and the 'Blackhole' records. So pleased it looks like they're finally seeing the light of day.
He's back writing acoustic songs again too, hopefully the little break has done him some good.
Oh and Orion is fuckin rad!
My copy of Orion showed up finally, gotta say it's thoroughly enjoyable. It sounds really good on the record player too. Here's looking forward to more expensive shipping costs in the future
