According to efestivals who are usually bang on the money
Surely they aren't big enough?!
Or do they just play pretty small venues? I seem to remember last time they played a lot of people faced disappointment trying to see them.
As barely anyone saw them tour it
and 2 nights at Ally Pally. I'd say they're more than big enough.
also, Blink 182 will probably headline, but MCR will be at best, below them.
I hope it's a nine-disc experimental jazz odyssey featuring no conventional instruments. Regine will play a dead blackbird.
And you will be judged there upon.
about blink of course
Blink are an amasingly fun party band, and if you can't have that fun, i feel sorry for you.
That sounds horrible.
They'd hardly be the most obscure choice.
at the current moment in time there's been little chatter about a/the new record and they've not really done anything in two years.
As soon as the new record comes there'll be talk, nobody's going to talk about it now when nobody knows when it is etc or it's not leaked etc
there was unending gossip and speculation regarding Neon Bible almost from when they stopped touring Funeral.
They were headlining arenas. Given that plus Funeral ending up in lots of 'best of the decade' writeups, I think they're probably a bigger draw than one might think. Whether they'll be a draw to the Reading/Leeds crowd is another question.
which is about half the size (I think?) of Wembley and the O2.
As much as I love Arcade Fire, I don't think they're festival-headliner material.
In terms of what a rapturous and inspired live band they are, I would disagree.
They were so dismissive of the fact that they regretted blitzing their way through the festival circuit during the Neon Bible tour, moaning about how crap the sound was etc., hard to believe that they'd come out of a long period away by headlining a festival. Particularly this one.
I thought the rumours were Blink182, Green Day and My Chemical Romance.
As for big enough, they drew a big crowd playing second top a couple of years ago, although it has been a while since they released anything.
are basically all the same aren't they? God can you imagine the crowd of all 3 were headliners?! Just as well get the cast of Glee to play as well...
and fucking kasabian
and kings of bastard leossssssnnnnnooooorrrrrrreeeeeeee
... none of them seem out and out headliners. All 3 of them are kind of like 'could' headline but also certainly could be sun-headliners. I don't think people would have such a problem if one or two of them were announced with one big or legendary act as well. the size of the headliners also has a knock on effect of the sub headliners. Not like i'm going so it doesn't effect me but can understand why people are annoyed, especially when some other festivals have pulled in some really big names.
they do headline, rather them than Green Day, Killers, Kings of Leon, any other identikit festival headliner. Not that I'll be going
that it will be Blink 182, Kasabian and Green Day headlining the main stage with My Chemical Romance on just before Green Day.
so doubt it.
that's a lot of tickets and I would have thought they are easily big enough to headline Reading. I guess it depends what their new album is like, but they have a huge crossover fanbase presuming they haven't gone completely leftfield / terrible.
but Arcade Fire headlining (if it happens) = day ticket.
