It already looks great! http://www.dourfestival.be/en/lineup/
De La Soul
They charge you for water in the arena, you know, that supposed human right. They don't even have water for washing your hands after you use the toilet which is disgusting. Instead they charge you €2 for tiny 30cl bottles of water during a hot summer dance music festival, where people are dancing, probably doing drugs and sweating profusely. THIS IS DANGEROUS. To get free water you have to walk all the way back to the campsite, which was one of dirtiest I've been to since the Leeds Festival riots at Temple Newsome Park. </rant>
Incredibly badly run festival, never going back.
I had no problems there. Water issue never really bothered me that much it was a great festival loads and loads of bands. Great atmosphere mostly ( although when aphex played last year some dodgy fucks turned up ). Mostly it was one of the best festivals I've ever been to and certainly alot better organised than english festivals!
the water thing is a bit is a bit weird, some will give you free water at the bar, others wont. but pills are rubbish these days anyway. wtf about the toilets though? I seem to remember they have both water and those hand-gel thingies? And the campsite is fine.
it's a good fest, been twice now and probs wouldnt go again either but mainly just cos I want something a bit different.
But it's £80 for four days. I don't mind a bit of piss on my hands for that price, and it's a festival after all. Been three times so I know what to expect and I've had a great time every time. It's hard though, quite an endurance test, but worth it.
take your own water into the arena? worked for me!
they dont search bags properly and if you take a bottle without a cap on (that you can put in your pocket) they let you take it anyway.
I'd prefer go to a festival that treats their customers with more respect rather than having to sneak in 'contraband' like WATER and BOTTLE CAPS. Fucking joke.
it really isnt that much bother is it? carrying a bottle of water...
YOU GOT ME RUNNIN' IN A CYCLONE
I'm going Faith No More are playing now. Worth the cash for that alone. This year I get to use the posh/press toilets though.
It's nice to see some love for Dour 2010! I'm working here this year and we're really excited about the ever-expanding line-up.
In response to the criticism, this year we will have sinks with running water for the toilets, and as for paying for water, it's a measure we have to take for ecological and economical reasons. If we didn't ask for a drinks coupon in return for water, unfortunately too much gets wasted, which is unsustainable both ecologically and economically.
Bottle caps are removed for a few reasons. Sadly, some people throw the bottles, and without a cap on, plastic bottles do a lot less damage. Equally, the thousands of caps that inevitably get littered are particularly difficult to get out of the ground once they are trampled in, and our site is normally used for grazing cattle.
Last year we won the prize for the best medium-sized European Festival and had really positive feedback about the organisation, which is getting better and better each year.
Hope that helps, and hope to see you there!
