"It's a 130 ting right now..."
They're on Rinse Thursday night at 11 as well.
Even as into it as I am, it's still hard to keep up with as it changes so fast...
as Dusk & Blackdown are on Rinse now!
Tune in worldwide online or some frequency on London's FM dial.
Hackman remixing Kowton. Yusss.
the Night Slugs 003 release sounded ace too, didn't catch the artist name. No idea how Sbtrkt made this song sound good to be honest he can turn out a remix that dude.
That track definitely didn't.
Holy shit! Is this Joker vs. Terror Danjah?
name in capitals bellow haha
Terror's remix/reharsh/rejig of Gully Brook Lane.
Sounds like a tyrannosaurus making ripples in my glass of water, a la Jurassic Park.
I was driving so couldn't have the regulation bass beer Red Stripe so got a leomonade instead and it was well Jarrasic Park in a little plastic cup.
debut EP coming in May!
Terrible for trying to get to sleep to :) it's definitely about listening via the podcast -- but properly looking forward to the new Kyle Hall stuff on Hdb. The most recent Omar-S on FXHE, Pletsek Cosmodrome (sic) is amazing as well, on a Detroit house/techno tip.
I've been meaning to do it for ages now.
I'm locked into this now too, new vocal on Sticky!
that busy signal song was too good.
"you should have a cup of tea because that actually cools you down, not a lot of people know that"
best pirate dancehall radio-show banter.
Is pretty cool but I wish they'd release Get Low its an insane tune! It went off when Kode9 dropped it last weekend then mixed it into Black Sun.
Get some new records Steve.
there was some new Terror Danjah, DVA, Addison Groove and other bits but yeah he seems to keep to the same sort of set for ages... Which was alright as I'd never seen him before. But kinda strange for a DJ...
Recently he seems to have been slowing down slightly. Not complaining that much, but would definitely be nice to hear some newer stuff. He always plays Cooly G dubs, which is nowt but a good thing.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm BORED of 'Get Low', and it's not even come out yet :(
The Idiot into Poison Dart went off too, I hear he's been doing that for quite a while. There was some funky I didn't recognise but I dunno if it sounded like Cooly G dubs I think I can spot her sound, it might have been though. There was a brilliant funky one this ace little xylephone melodie in it.
Always playing amazing tunes i'd never heard and way ahead of the curve. But when he started playing funky he was picking up pretty old tunes that everyone else was playing.
If I seem him now I know almost all the tracks and although thats not always a bad thing it certainly makes it less exicting.
Although his three hour set at Hyperdub's fifth birthday party in November was one of the best DJ sets I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. First hour or so of funky, both dubs and stuff I knew, an hour of dubstep and grime, some really old and some brand new, and then a final hour or so of old school jungle tunes.
And right at the end he 'encored' when the crowd called him back, by dropping a new Burial tune (Lambeth) -- this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlNqmrIjWug -- and Cooly G's 'Him Da Biz'. I think that final ten minutes might just qualify as my favourite club experience ever.
I've not had much opertunity to see him, he doesn't reach this way often. I'd be a bit disapointed if I heard the same set each time he came through. Maybe he's been busey and can't be doing with getting a new full set going. It worked a treat mind, tryed and tested. I've never heard Digidesign sound so good as it did on the Iration Steppas soundsyetm, plus its rare you hear funky on that thing too, it just doesnt happen.
I think the dubplate virus has infected me a little bit. I do definitely find myself getting a bit bored if I know most of the tunes a DJ plays.
I'm more than happy to boogie my way through a set of stuff I've never heard before. Some classics thrown in is all good though, plus I'd never seen Kode so I wasn't fussed.
Not really saying anything new; anyone with a remote interest in the scene will have heard 90% of those artists.
I did find myself reading through it and thinking 'Reckon he had a busy month with other things and just wanted to knock this one out as swiftly as possible?'
That said, intentional or not, I think that everything's moving so fast within these circles right now that it's probably a worthwhile exercise to step back and take stock.
but it's more of a list thing this time, there's been loads of trends, so maybe he wanted to take stock. did that well i think.
sure he'll have more epic interviews on his blog soon :)
didn't need to write that, dis-integration already wrote what i was thinking but i hadn't read it.
I keep bumping into some insular house heads that wont admit some of the stuff I play is 130 or bellow let alone vuagly related to house music. Its like talking to the dance music equivelent of the flat earth society sometimes haha. It would be cool if some end of the house spectrum looked to the scene more.
