NosferatuD2
Okay, this the last time I'm going to say this, but I think this album is great and I want to shout it from this here e-rooftop:
http://drownedinsound.com/releases/15025/reviews/4138815
If you like it then we can probably be friends. If not, then you damn well better like the film Ghostbusters, that's all I can say.

Superman Revenge Squad
Excellent album. You should buy it now for the modest price of £5.99 http://www.audioantihero.com/ShopND2.htm
wonderful human beings
the lot of you :)
I've already bought this
Best £6 I've spent in a long time to be honest. Great great music that I imagine the majority of DiSers will enjoy so I would also implore others to have a punt!
i say
about time ;)
Most definitely
Go pick this up now, such a great record!
Never heard of them
and I read the review because I was impressed by the title of the album. The review made me want to listen to it, and now this, I just bought it.
it is quite brilliant
i don't think you'll be disappointed.
I do wish I was around to have seen them live though. The drumming is brutal.
yep
Adam Parker is in a league of his own.
He drums very occasionally for Superman Revenge Squad, my heart stopped when I saw it!
Loving this album!
cheers
:)
*chuffed*
i do think though
that superman revenge squad is great too.
anyone else follow them?
for those wanting free stuff

the world needs more people like you
Ben's a lyrical ninja, so do as he says
I saw Ben in his current guise recently and this is what happened (http://www.chaosbeforepredictability.com/2010/02/lyrical-ninja-strike-back.html)
His words deserve to heard, and that definitely includes his work in Nosferatu D2, so I'd recommend the album. Buy two copies even, in case the first wears out or blows up your CD player - you've always got to think of the possibilities.
Additionally, if you don't like the album OR Ghostbusters, you could quite possibly be a gecko. It's possible.
This album
is actually really, really great
thank you all
Much appreciated.
Anyone interested in hearing more about Ben Parker's work outside of Nosferatu D2 should have a look at Sweeping The Nation's nice 'Ben Parker - A History' blog that went up yesterday.
http://sweepingthenation.blogspot.com/2010/03/ben-parker-history.html
Never say DIY!
have to agree
is a very good album.
hopefully the company it kept in my 2009 top ten
speaks volumes http://www.sicmagazine.net/articles/456/my-2009-the-indie-dad and yes, Superman Revenge Squad is ace.
awesome
much obliged!
amazing record
best i bought last year.
pleased i'm not alone
in mourning the hell out of this band!!!
More sardonic lyrics to tempt
The lyrical ninja also shares a label with another sardonic word-wizard, Benjamin Shaw. Also well worth checking out - http://www.chaosbeforepredictability.com/2010/03/st-patricks-day-with-benjamin-shaw.html
rocking the set
as ever. thanks.
I love Benjamin Shaw. Rumour has it that others do too.
I was listening to this today
Is the album all there is recordings-wise?
well,
there's another four songs and an alternative recording or two, all pretty great.
You can hear one of the non album songs on the myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/nosferatud2
& there's another on our website:
http://audioantihero.com/Home.htm
Hopefully one day I can make them available properly :)
part bump and part addition
also, definitely try out Ben Parker's acoustic stuff: http://www.myspace.com/supermanrevengesquad
and Temptertwig on last.fm
Neither are quite the same as Nosferatu D2, but they fill a hole in my soul with very lovely music.
Bought the album off the back of this thread
and have been really enjoying. Good work people.
:)
thanks! you're a true hero of the consumer market. we thank you.

oops
that was meant to be in response to deussoundgarden, and not totally out of the blue!
Got this album a week or 2 ago.
It really is excellent, a tad bleak in content but awesome nonetheless.
thanks
really glad you liked it.
but I hope it didn't bring you down!

Dead Crow Blues! Gonna be good.
yes
hi. EP is coming out on Smalltown America. the "video podcast" is my new online TV show. SRS feature on episode 1, which will also feature Adam Gnade and Slushy Guts. it was meant to be filmed on my roof terrace but the rain made us do it in the front room instead!
ooh
let us know when that's up please?
well done, you're northern
confused
banter or nosferatu d2 related flaming?
his schtick is that he's Northern
whippets and pies and two-up-two-downs etc
ah
well, it works for some.
I don't think you're alone in your analysis, personally I *love* his voice - but you might prefer his singing in Superman Revenge Squad: http://www.myspace.com/supermanrevengesquad as there's a bit less of a screech to it.
p.s thanks for buying it
It is indeed a magnificent record
The sort of kind you listen walking around at night surrounded by fallen industry and declining towns.
aye
very well said.
It's amazing how often I hear their lyrics in my head when I'm walking around down here...and I'm allegedly in a suburb.
Just ordered the CD!
From what i've heard it sounds awesome.
:)
you won't be disappointed! i would hope.
Aww
I'm glad I started this thread. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy to see people buying the album.
you're a saint!
you're the fire starter
wish i'd got there first, for a change.
hell yeah
ND2 ORIGINAL!
not many of us left
!
ERR
This thread has taught me never to ignore recommendations. When I get 6pund I'm buying this. It's ridiculous genius!
glad you think so
:)
people always ignore my recommendations...
I'll show them.
got a nice e-mail today
to say that Tom Robinson wants to play Nosferatu D2 on 6music in the next month or so :) that'll be exciting (for us anyway)
Got this last week
Ever since seeing them at that now legendary London gig at The Spitz with Sky Larkin and Los Campesinos! back in 2007 I have been hoping for a release of their elusive album. And it has really been worth the wait, it is nothing short of brilliant. The DiS review posted up there^ is no exaggeration.
Bought the excellent Benjamin Shaw EP (released on the same label) as well, very different to either Nosferatu D2 or Superman Revenge Squad, and pleasantly suitable for late-at-night listening.
:)
I'm so pleased you liked them.
Don't know if you've already got it, but you can download that Spitz gig here:
http://onlineantihero.blogspot.com/2010/01/download-nosferatu-d2-live-supporting.html
Thanks again.

and I'm afraid I'll be back when the t-shirts come in.
a jag too far?! never!
after reading this thread and this review:

much obliged
any opportunity to jabber on, eh? :)
right I just bought it
how many more do you need to sell to break even?
good question, i'll need to do some maths
and thank you :)
now I've listened to it a buncha times, I thought I'd splurge out some thoughts on it
yeah - it's very good. lyrically excellent (though will all those pop culture referneces date it one day? who gives a shit? me? in a few years we'll see), drumming is also excellent - not many indie bands with double bass drums
I also listened to the live thing - its also good (the performances are very similar to the album) - highlight: some guy at the end exclaiming, 'that was fucking awesome' - makes me wish I was around at the time
ha, good point
one day it might sound how Half Man Half Biscuit sound to me (very confusing), but I think it's got some miles left in it :)
Glad you liked it. And yeah, that's my favourite but from the live set too. There's also the sound of a condom exploding...odd gig.
Mainstream Mainstays
Nosferatu D2's "Broken Tamagotchi" played on NME Radio, Jon Hillcock's 'New Noise' show.
Stream it here: http://www.mixcloud.com/newnoise/new-noise-2-may-10-part-2/player/
SRS topic
There's a nice topic about Superman Revenge Squad on the forum now (if anyone missed it):
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4257564
Fans of Nosferatu D2 had really ought to catch up with the works of SRS. It's magic.
Ben Parker is in a new band
Ben Parker (Nosferatu D2 / Superman Revenge Squad / Tempertwig) is playing guitar (and the odd vocal) in a new band called The Jonbar Hinge.
They're playing their first gig in Croydon, come June:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=118661401494563&ref=ts
Adam Parker is in a new band too
Clarity:
http://www.myspace.com/youarenolongerwelcomehere
A very different affair!
I FINALLY ordered the album
can't wait :D
hooray
we won't let you down!
anyone out to see Jonbar Hinge tonight?
Ben Parker's new band are playing at The Scream Lounge in Croydon, it should be awesome. I'll be there, shamelessly wearing my Nosferatu D2 t-shirt.
http://onlineantihero.blogspot.com/2010/06/two-exciting-gigs-or-return-of-mack.html
it was really good
http://onlineantihero.blogspot.com/2010/06/jonbarr-hinge-scream-lounge-croydon.html
damn
I meant to go, even though Croydon is pretty out of the way from where I am.
whereabouts are you?
Croydon is a tricky one, I live a 12 minute train ride away from East or West Croydon station, and Songkick thinks that Croydon is totally out of my range. It's odd.
It's sort of London, but not quite...
Anyway, Jonbarr Hinge should be playing again soon ish :)
I'm about as far North East as you can get and still claim you live in London
I hope they play somewhere more civilised next time. also, I'm listening to the myspace stuff now. It's not quite what I expected... musically, far more... jolly. I can't quite make out the lyrics, though.
they're playing again tomorrow, but still in Croydon
http://www.songkick.com/concerts/5914476-jonbarr-hinge-at-green-dragon
I agree with you on the music front, though I'm pretty sure a lot of the lyrics are pretty full of despair - but it's jaunty and there's harmonies! Worth seeing live if you can good sir.
Rock on.
there's Jonbarr Hinge songs up on myspace now
Dear Mr Prunes, if you're sad you missed the gig you can hear some Jonbarr Hinge rehearsal demos on their myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/thejonbarrhinge
My favourite is 'Asbo Diddley'.
Propaganda Radio
Benjamin Shaw & I are 'taking over' Propaganda Radio in a few mins at 7pm on xstreameast.co.uk
http://xstreameast.co.uk/shows.php
Benjamin Shaw will be performing and I'm picking all the songs. We'll both be blabbering awkwardly.
P.S I know, I know. I jag myself into the ground.
i got this today
i am listening ot it now
i am late to the party
but it is good
my favourite so far is i killed bur bacharach
:)
glad it got there safely.
I think you might be the first to cite that as their favourite, so that's nice :)
An old review said it sounded like 'radiohead stuck in the mud' actually!
cool
enjoy! x
Got the album on the back of this thread.
Bloody brilliant. Up there with the best of the year for me. A Footnote and Springsteen are the highlights IMO, I've rarely heard more raw, emotive stuff.
good choice
I think Broken Tamagotchi is up there too.
amazed this thread is still creeping along
quite a lot of Nosferatu D2
including a couple of free MP3 links in the new weekly series of Audio Antihero's "Never Say DIY!" Radio:
http://www.mixcloud.com/audioantihero
Plus Benjamin Shaw and lots of other odd things.
YOU CAN...
...obviously include them in the stupid band name thread from awhile back
yeah man, I'll plug them anywhere.
all suggestions welcomed.
Got this album after seeing this thread
Its one of those lost little gems. It's sad and melancholy, but with a good dose of dry humour. His superman revenge squad stuff is really good as well. I stumbled across a free single by SRS that you can download here.
http://godisinthetvzine.co.uk/content/content_detail.php?id=2761&type=Features
Oops
Just realised a similar link was already posted above. Still, useful if you can't be arsed to scroll back up!
awesome
haven't heard that GITTV single for ruddy ages :)
After listening to this album religiously
I'm now thinking this is easily the most underrated album of the last few years. The lyrics are exceptional as is the drumming. It's a shame that something so brilliant won't get the recognition it deserves but then maybe that's what makes it so special. Hats of to AudioAntihero aswell for putting it out.
you're very kind x
Wanna hear this so badly
anyone know where I can buy MP3s'? On a long holiday in the States at the moment.
MP3
Hey,
The album is coming out digitally in October, but if you want to order the album to a UK address I'll very happily e-mail you a link to download the album.
Cheers
It's now available digitally via bandcamp
http://audioantihero.bandcamp.com
it'll be on iTunes and all the rest in October x
Nosferatu D2 Facebook Page
I've set up a Nosferatu D2 facebook page, large and in charge:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nosferatu-D2/107902675930421?ref=ts
Lots of free music to stream and download on there, plus cool interviews/articles, etc.
Love this bandname
back in high school in the 90s, I wrote a screenplay for a movie called Nosferatu '99
well hell, I may check this band out for sure
ha
was it at all like this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dracula_AD_1972 only with more nu-metal? ;)
Thought I'd mention how much I like it while the thread's in mid-bump -
really really good. I bought it on the strength of this thread like many others... absolutely no space wasted on the album, pretty much every second is a gem. respect to AAH for getting it out there :D
respect to you for justifying it! ;) x
Got it!
And, wow, yes, very very good. Traveled to Rought Trade West to get a (the last?) copy. Thank you DiS, if I hadn't of clicked on this thread I would have missed out on something very special.
If genuine, this post makes me happy.
thanks :)
It's lovely when someone actually picks it up from a real shop with real shelves and windows :)
x
i asked for it. and they got it me. :D
awesome
for a wee while Rough Trade East had it on display - but i'm not sure the money was rolling right in for them! I think East & West still have a couple of copies of Benjamin Shaw left but his EP is so slim I can never find it when I go in.
Anyway, thank you again :) x
i'm so glad i got round to buying this finally
solid album from start to finish. great stuff
:)
You're not as glad as we are ;)
This thread is brill
Was aware of them as a bloke I know is good mates with Ben and I knew and loved a lot of their stuff and I was there at their last ever show supporting Los Campesinos! at the Spitz so I was really pleased when AudioAntihero put it out and it's brill to see people picking it up and enjoying it.
That is some of the worst punctuation
or lack thereof i've ever seen.
It was excused by exceptional content and research. Thanks man.
gave this another listen today
remembered just how bleeding excellent it is
good work
even better work on your part Mr Lover
bought this a few months back
^ fucking shambolic first post there
But anyway... bought this a few months back after randomly browsing the site and came back today and noticed it was still here- thought I'd sign up and comment on it...
It really is a fantastic album, the lyrics are some of the best i've heard and really resonate with me not living too far from Croydon (the beautiful town of Bromley!). I still listen to it on a regular basis, and I'm sure it will get more plays as the cold winter months come and I find myself wondering gloomily down Bromley High Street... perfect album for that sort of thing.
The hand-written note that came with the album was a nice touch too- many thanks :)
£4.99 on bandcamp

Audio Antihero sampler
I've set up an Audio Antihero sampler:
http://onlineantihero.blogspot.com/2010/09/audio-antihero-sampler-introduction-to.html
Nosferatu D2 & Benjamin Shaw songs included with free downloads too.
Rock on, chump.
I was actually listening to this today
while perpetually carrying bags of medications around a hospital (for money, not fun). It was annoyingly cathartic.
Nosferatu D2 available on iTunes, Amazon, Play, etc
Nosferatu D2's album will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Play, eMusic, HMV, etc etc tomorrow.
Plus, Ben Parker of Nosferatu D2, Superman Revenge Squad, Tempertwig, Jonbarr Hinge has put together an episode of "Hired Gun Radio" for us via Mixcloud: http://www.mixcloud.com/audioantihero/ben-parkers-hired-gun-radio

I think I'll order it soon.

I hope you like it.

Evil Jamie Halliday
of Audio Antihero told me to sign up so he could sell some more records.
I would have ignored him but it's actually really quite good. Well, I like it anyway. Also I'm pretty sure I discovered the band from stalking these boards and I feel bad about never posting so yeah...
Also
He's probably not evil.
He's done things he isn't proud of.

NICE!
Not heard any of the music,
but I love the band name :-)
Played with them/him a couple of times
They reminded me of a more intense Wedding Present or the more jangly version of Unwound.
We have a tribute track somewhere done in N2D2 style about a time travelling ford cortina and a pack of jaffa cakes...
What.

Jonbarr Hinge (ex-Nosferatu D2)
Hello,
If anyone is interested in hearing a new song from Ben Parker's most recent group, there's a track from The Jonbarr Hinge on this new charity compilation for Rape Crisis:
http://audioantihero.bandcamp.com/album/audio-antihero-presents-regal-vs-steamboat-for-rape-crisis
