Also, I love the specificity about I Blame Coco.
wonder if unforseen circumstances means no one bought a ticket...
You'd never catch ME doing that...
trying and not succeeding, with that said I just cannot see who would pay to have gone to this in enough numbers for it to work. Scouting For Girls do have a fanbase, not that I count myself in them, but do any of the other bands have a following that would dedicate a weekend to them?
I'm utterly confused as to how this WAS cancelled.
Calvin Harris sells out huge venues, as do Scouting for Girls.
I think it's more likely a problem with Butlins. It's a rubbish line-up to people like us but it's a pop event, and one that I'm surprised to have been cancelled.
Whoops, that reply was to JuxtaposedJames.
If they were more nostalgia acts maybe but sfg and calvin harris would not pull sufficient numbers to make people dedicate a weekend to it in my opinion. 6 or 7 more acts of their stature would maybe tip the balance but definitely not in their own right.
I'm looking at it on a pure business level I hold no desire to see any venture fail, do an indie equivalent of that bill (maybe biffy clyro and mgmt respectively?) and you'll see how its the calibre of acts that has failed it, maybe coupled with the price.
It doesn't seem from the bill that they really knew what they wanted it to be, so you've got all the dancey stuff, but you're paying £150 for that and then some new major label stuff that'll never shift units (ah, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool and General Fiasco) and then stuff like Alphabeat and a Fratellis side project on top.
The Futureheads must have the same booking agent as British Sea Power, they both end up doing any workaday festival that'll have them.
