Please recommend dance music. I can't get enough of it. The more dance-y, the better.
Most of the "Dance" music I like, I'd sooner listen to, rather than dance.
But I'm going to say "Music for the Gilted Generation". Just for dancings sake. They should have stoped after that.
I'm not into DJ and Mix type albums.
some mates at college use to bore the shit out of me with epic amounts of trance when I was at college and I never really went back to it after that. I always liked this proggy/trancy number though...
Sasha - Xpander
lots of the vocal ones all melted into one for me. Plus I think I'd left school/college by the time this one came out, but PvD For An Angel was right when I was around loads of trance lovin muthas 98/99/00. It all just made me want to listen to this too...
Orbital - Belfast
If you want to narrow it down a bit to a genre or two I could maybe be more helpful? But instead I'll just chuck a couple of my current favourites at you from all over the place at random...
Emvee - Glitch Dub [Wireblock]
Baobinga - Ride It (Untold Remix) [Build]
Terror Danjah - Acid [Hyperdub]
Rude Kid - Jack Daniels [No Hoods No Hats]
Egyptrixx - Hexagon [Aaahh! Real Monsters]
Floating Points - Peoples Potential [Eglo]
There your options, what's it going to be?
those are the only options have you not seen Stricktly Come Dancing?
And I don't know how much you know already so some of this might be obvious but
My favourite 'dance' full-lengths are
Luomo - Vocalcity
Richard Villalobos - Alcachofa
Skull Disco - Soundboy Punishments
2562 - Unbalance
Shackleton - 3Eps
It might be as well investigating all the big names, so look out for people like Omar-S, Theo Parrish, Carl Craig, Pepe Bradock, Moodymann, Terre Thaemlitz, Dinky, Joris Voorn and Kyle Hall from a house angle, and people like Mike Parker, Mike Dehrent, Monolake, Shed, Ben Klock, Basic Channel, Andy Stott, Claro Intellecto, Redshape and Anthony 'Shake' Shakir + Anything on Ostgut or Modern Love deserves investigation.
Dance music is mostly done in terms of singles, so might as well start by buying/downloading some of that ^ lots stuff.
get there in the end.
Ricardo* Villalobos (had to correct that)
and Mike Parker to Modern Love is meant to sum up techno.
Fabric's Elevator Music is a very good, accessible snapshot of 2010 dancefloor-ready dubstep and funky variants. Mosca's Gold Bricks, I See You is track of the year for me so far.
Oh, and listen to Mala: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY1Z7rYX74o
Ok, definitely going now.
Some Quality Mix Tapes, feat justice, feadz uffie etc
is my favourite dance album ever. 808 State's Ex:El comes second.
Bar those two and a couple of other less "dance-y" dance albums, all good dance comes on 12" singles, and not on albums.
anyways thanks for the suggestions. I guess my favorite type of music is house. I like a lot of the less cheesy side of disco. I like listening to stuff like 2562 and Villalobos but I don't think that kind of stuff is really dance-y. I mean stuff you can really groove to.
SCROTUM I really love both those tracks and I hadn't heard of them before. jimi, I haven't had a chance to listen to all those suggestions but I'll get on it
gino soccio, daft punk, giorgio moroder, and all 90's house
but I actually would prefer some newer dance music. Thanks!!
Do you want music people can really "dance" to, like soul or funk, or the knob-twiddling shit that pasty-faced trainers-wearing university geeks create to take drugs to? Because there's a diference. James Brown rules; Prodigy et al can suck my wang.
Like music you can't help but move to. Yes, I love soul and funk, but am more of a fan of more electronic music.
I am looking for music that will make people actually dance. Yes
I heard Ricardo play it fabric once. Don't think i've ever run from the toilet to the dancefloor so fast!
Moulinex - Lover In Me
Alan Braxe, Classixx, Kris Menace, Layo and Bushwacka, Grum, Bob Sinclair (blech), Breakbot, Beatacue, Lifelike, Tiesto (sadface), Xinobi, Louis La Roche, basshunter, scooter.
The 'Super Discount' albums might interest you (ALex Gopher, Etienne De Crecy and some other punters, check out Fast Track or the vocal version "Someone like you").
Admiteddly, I'm not keen on any of the above, barring a couple of Alan Braxe tracks, Fast Track off of Super Discount 2 and a couple of Lifelike remixes.

Kanji Kinetic, A1 Bassline, Dave Clarke, Hanno Hinkelbein, Ritchie Hawtin (not as Plastikman), Noisia, Hostage, Rogue Element, Popof, Lutzenkirtchen (sic), Dusty Kid, Extrawelt, housemeister, Green Velvet, Cajmere, Miss Kittin (most of the time), The Advent, The Hacker, D.A.V.E. the Drummer, Chris Liberator, Cerrone, Black Sun Empire, Black Meteoric Star, LCD Soundsystem, DJ Funk, MSTRKRFT (but only their first album and some remixes, avoid 'Fist of God' it am being teh pish), that'll do.
