in an effort to guarantee tickets for their next London show.
From what's being said I gathered that they were starting recording some time this year but it's unlikely they'll get close to finishing it in the near future.
If not, do you mind revealing your source?
They gig pretty frequently.
So I wouldn't be surprised if it was coming out in June.
Hilarious as ever, but check bullet point 2 for their depressing recording update.
Yeah, remember that thing you signed up for back when you still drank? That was our mailing list and this is the latest near-annual installment. Yay, another Wrens email - must be 2007 already.
Wanna preface this all by wishing everyone within the sound of my typing a belated happy New Decade, and we hope your Twenty-Ten is shaping up nicely (i.e. that you either already have full health care coverage or are so robustly healthy, that mortality, illness & injury are at or near the three bottom slots of your To-Worry list).
Over the last week or so on the internet's second-most heavily trafficked site, we ran down the high- and lowlights of our year in three separate state-of-the-band addresses:
the first summarizes what we got done this year (not so much on the surface, it turns out), our 20th anniversary and the related party/shows we threw ourselves at Maxwell's last month, a new cd of very old songs available now, a few new t-shirts (incl. a 20th anniversary one) as well, ongoing Facebook / Twitter crap where we make fun of how old we are, a show in Boston to launch Twenty-Ten in the dandyish style it should be accorded, etc. You can read about all that here.
the second installment picks up with what we haven't done (start recording yet), a bit on how in the name of all that is holy that could possibly be (the small business vs. making music aspects of running a band (often into the ground)), and our solution to that part of it (we've taken on management). You can read about all that here.
and part 3, looks a bit at why not having started yet isn't as clear-cut or as dire as it sounds, where the next music/album/recording is at & how we're more ahead of things than ever before, and finishes with an hilariously optimistic prediction on when the next album will finish. That's here.
We also had some really nice late-in-the-game Meadowlands action with some people putting it in their Best-of-Decade lists, often shockingly high. You can read about that here, here, here, and here.
Lastly, and more importantly, we continue the rollout into our 21st year with a benefit show for Haiti, alongside a dozen+ other bands & comedians at the Bell House in Brooklyn, Wednesday, Jan. 27th. Details here. We hope you can make it.
Again, happy New Year, and as always, thanks,
I meant the 5th paragraph.
Or at least just come here and play a gig or something. I need Wrens! They're responsible for the best live show I've ever seen and one of my favourite albums of all time. This is like torture.
