Every 5th article seems to be about friggin Los Campesinos. Give it a rest...
do you mean the Los Campesinos! take over week DiS just had? Because that's kind've the point of those weeks, to let the band y'know, takeover
LC aren't shoved down yr throats by the rest of the media so it's not too bad.
I'm not a fan of those weeks at all - nothing against LC! but the DiS band takeover weeks all feel like being repeatedly beaten over the head by someone screaming "buy this band's record", "buy this band's record", "buy this band's record" ad nauseum.
Takeover days'd be fine but takeover weeks are utter, utter, utter overkill.
But stil when you log onto the front page and there's loads of articles on one band it still feels like overkill, regardless of whether I then go on and read them.
Only one of the articles was actually remotely about Los Campesinos the band (the I Hate The Glockenspiel one). There was one about things to do in Cardiff, one about cooking, 2 were related to football and the other was about Parenthetical Girls.
Nothing screams 'filler' like The Day in the Life of a Kaiser Chief.
I was pleased to see the article about Shape Records too - we played one of their nights a couple of years back and I'm glad they're still going strong.
I'm just sympathetic to the fact that if someone clicked on the site and saw loads of articles about one band, it's pretty understandable they'd share the sentiments of the person who started this thread.
I didn't realise it had happened until Sean tweeted about it
so that's why I've been looking at their spotty little faces all week.
instead of obvious pay-off artists getting an irregular amount of coverage (Idlewild, Kaiser Chiefs etc.). they are funny/interesting peeps for the most part anyway, have enjoyed their writings despite hating their music, and Gareth's footie piece is the best feature i've read on here since Dom's BJM interview
It feels like about 3...
it was 3 weeks ago. some stuff is still featured on the frontpage due to the way our site is, er, 'designed'
if it offends you, ignore it.
the last bit ran on Jan 29th. time flies.
but they are an extremely decent band with three top albums under their belt. all in the space of about 2 years as well. i look forward to seeing them after i see beach house on friday! and before i see spoon on monday ;)
Nothing against the band at all, but there's plenty of other stuff to cover. Just seems a bit 'filler'... that's all.
we've got about 11+ things a day going up on the site, to certainly doesn't make up the bulk of the content.
