I'm in town visiting pals for the night, any tip offs for decent gigs, club nights etc.. greatly appreciated.
I've just this minute read an email from the organisers of Supernight, which is a really cool diy indie night that runs sporadically and is on tomorrow! Not that I'll be there - I live quite a long way north of that these days. But yeah, ctrl+v:
Some good friends of ours are putting on a gig in Nottingham tomorrow night which we thought you might like to hear about.
It’s taking place at Scruffy’s (198 Derby Road, Nottingham) on Friday 29th January (8pm – 1am).
For £3 (or £2 if you’re a High Soc member) you’ll get to see all of these marvellous bands (plus Hello Thor DJs):
Red Shoe Diaries - glittery, literary, indie-pop
Fists - a special acoustic outing for Nottingham's favourite ramshackle rockers
Twenty Year Hurricane - energetic, sweat-soaked 80s-inflected indie rock
Hhymn -sublime, heartfelt, elegant, yearning indie folk
See you there!
... Pretty sure I've seen Red Shoe Diaries before as well, but I can't remember them I'm afraid. Dunno the others. Long time since I've lived there. Sure it'll be fun.)
i think Iglu and Hartly are playing at the Social too.
The Ropewalk plays some nice music sometimes
I'd rather watch you piss on your mum's face.
It's above Clinton Cards in the Market Square. The support bands are good too, and it all starts at 8.
See you there?!
I keep hearing about gigs which i'd have loved to gone to, after they've happened, and tracking down listings for gigs there online seems non existent
I think the Chameleon is my fave venue in Nottingham at the moment. Saw HEALTH in there last year, that was amazing.
i keep meaning to ask you - is it you who's about two people along from me in the pictures that were posted on DiS?
I can't quite tell. Internet is being slow so I can't tell you which picture it is (you'll know it when you see it!)
lustforlife - have a look for liars club (or ricky haley) on facebook. I get constant messages about anything going on in Nottingham.
That's me in the orange t-shirt, could that sideburn/cheekbone combo belong to anyone else?
But also I slightly doubted myself as I thought the guy behind me was someone else I knew, and I asked him, and he called me a name :(
near the alley cafe
It's generally my favourite way to spend an evening.
Spectrals - http://www.myspace.com/spectralspectral
Fair Ohs - http://www.myspace.com/theemightypharoahs
Nephu Huzzband - http://www.myspace.com/nephuhuzzband
Cold Pumas - http://www.myspace.com/coldpumas
Doors at 8, cost 4 pounds
I'll be there hopefully celebrating an emphatic win for Forest at Prideless Park tomorrow....
But sadly, it's just a one night deal, I'm en route to watch my team play in Durham on Saturday. Tonight, maybe the Chameleon.. I think my friends want to show me a few bars, places they normally hang out at, the alley cafe being one of them.

Egyptian hip-hop & is tropical are playing at stealth, then Jackmaster is djing afterwards.
Anything of note happening this weekend (5/6th March)?
which has a cheapish bar that is really just a massive bin full of cold water and beer.
On Saturday the hilarious metal beat combo 'Trivium' are playing Rock City, it might be a chance to mug a few teenagers whilst they wait for their parents to pick them up afterwards.
I really liked their Rupert the Sky L.P a few years back, and the arts organisation seems like a pretty interesting spot too. If I'm still about on Saturday I'll pop along for sure.
