Lots of new hyperdub tracks.
and the kode9/spaceape one. Its weird how theyve got a kyle hall single coming out.
I've been wanting that for ages, Ben UFO kept playing it and every single time I had to do a double take.
I'm just listening now so haven't heard those bits yet. Its really cool to see Kyle Hall getting a release though his remix of Aidy's Girl Is A Computer was well nice and i can't stop playing his Dirty Thouz EP on his own label.
think i'm going to have to pick up natty/ganja next week
Sonic Warfare? It looks pretty interesting, although very complex and dense.
I've read the first chapter or so, so far. I'm still soaking it in, it's heavy in places so I'm just taking my time with it haha.
Also, how good is the new chapter thing Radio 1 do? Very cool.
just heavy ideas at times.
I've not seen the chapter thing before, its the first time I've used the iplayer for a while.
I can do with heavy ideas as long as it's not Being and Time, or anything like that.
Really looking forward to reading it - my brother's writing his dissertation on the political and social aspects of the rave movement, so I think he's wading his way through as we speak. I chatted to someone the other night who's read it, and he said it's both interesting and very readable, so looking forward to it.
On the music side, Hyperdub's release schedule is looking VERY interesting for the near future. Very excited to hear the Kyle Hall stuff, but on top of that there's new stuff from DVA, Terror Danjah and the new Ikonika material sounds staggering. She's playing a two hour set (along with TVO) at The Russian in Dalston on Saturday if anyone's stuck for something to do - apparently she's going to be playing out most of her album's material. Think I may be making the trip back from Bristol for that...
it sounds fooookin ace!
and somehow more like dubstep than the rest of the hyperdub crew hahah Like Mala gone detroit techno.
I'm going to put it on later as I'm painting the spare room... Might make a post-late-work evening of DIY that bit more palatable.
'Emika and Martin Kemp in the mix'
if you go late into the night DIY style.
Looking forward to it, because I've been playing Um Bongo's Revenge a lot recently.
I dunno, it says Kemp and that on the link above. Unless it means next week? I've been confused about when MAH is since she moved nights and then the website changed and I've just got more confused haha.
Um Bongo's Revenge has grown on me, I wasn't to keen at first but I'm enjoying it now and playing it quite a bit.
The one with that wierd ascending whine melody. I'm really loving Bashmore's Mosca remix and 'The Moth' on Elevator Music though. There's a gorgeous older song called 'Bad Apple' you can get for free from Curb Crawlers as well, definitely worthy of investigating.
Oh, and Deadboy's mix of Um Bongo's Revenge is glorious.
he put up some tracks on dsf ages ago and I think that was one of them.
I can only do the trip back to London for Ikonika & TVO this weekend if I finish it, as we'd be planning to get it done on Saturday... That's a pretty decent incentive I feel.
Gonna be an intense night.
There's a really interesting looking talk by Stewart Brand at the ICA that afternoon as well on the 'future of environmentalism'... Might have to have a London Day Of Culture (tm).
Shame the ICA looks like it might be shutting down an' that.
I do an english lit degree, so I should in theory be able to wade through dense books of pointless cultural theory, but I'm tempted to think it will just sit sadly on my shelf for a few years, while I put Black Sun on a have a little dance.
thank you for the info.
I'm still waiting on Hyperdub branded cheap nikeadidasreebok trainers
very good, just wish mah would let them go longer.
emika helped out starkey the week before too, taking over.
