Well it's a good a debate as any! I'd side with Guerilla personally. Tropical techno-rock always gets me jigging.
Close runners included Mwng and Phantom Power.
With Fuzzy Logic a close second. Northern Lights just makes it incredible though, FUCKING STEEL DRUMS RULE.
As an overall album, it's my favorite, it just flows perfectly.
I do however have to give my respect to Radiator, some absolute class on that album, Demons being my favorite ever SFA song.
I've always thought it was Radiator until I play Guerilla or Rings around the World. I listened to Love Kraft the other day and loved it. New one is great as well. There catalogue just grows and grows beautifully as time goes on.
guerilla doesn't come close to radiator - rings around the world is an epic classic tho and just edges radiator.
though I havent heaerd too much, which one should I get as resident is selling their albums for like 3 quid
followed by Guerilla
followed by Radiator
I know it's one of their more conventional sounding albums but I think it's great.
If I'm not allowed to say Phantom Power then I'll go for Radiator
Super Furry Animals are a bit like Mogwai and Sleater-Kinney, most of their albums will have their supporters when it comes to choosing a favourite. And I think Phantom Power is very underrated.
Closely followed by Guerilla and Rings Around The World.
Although nothing beats watching the DVD of their videos.
then Rings, Fuzzy Logic, Phantom Power, Guerilla (I've not heard the others). Not that into their experimental/techno stuff but when they write pop songs they're brilliant!
Rings Around The World
all unbelievably good.
i used to balk at how pop it is a little bit, but love it now. wherever i lay my phone has grown on me a lot.
would love to hear the door to this house in a club, total banger. that into the teacher is my favourite bit of guerilla.
so far in this thread the shouts for best album...
phantom power- 1
is the most varied, most ambitious, and most consistent i reckon.
Radiator is also a good shout but i think it's dated a bit, have also rediscovered Rings recently after thinking for a while that it wasn't much cop. not so keen on the newer stuff, but then i've not actually heard Phantom Power - how does it stand against Love Kraft, Hey Venus, etc?
It's more ambitious than the last two records anyway! Phantom Power is worth it for 'Slow Life' and is probably the most Pete Fowler monsterism-sounding album.
to be honest i lost a bit of interest for a few years after Rings and have only heard sporadic bits of the later stuff through Spotify/Lastfm, i really should just go ahead and complete my collection seeing as the albums are going so cheap.
They've never made a bad album though -must be one of the most consistent bands still around.
Mwng was a real surprise for me at the time. The idea of one of my favourite bands making an all welsh album didn't excite me much. This was mainly due to the fact that most of the local bands at the time who sung exclusively in welsh were rubbish (if you couldn't write decent songs, singing in welsh was one of the easiest ways to stand out. Ever hear Slip or Gwacamoli? Terrible stuff!).
Anyway, they pulled it off with class.
Never liked Guerilla for some reason (oops). Radiator has most of my favourite SFA songs on it, but I prefer Rings' stately epic-ness...
Usually I say 'Guerilla'. Occasionally it's 'Mwng' or 'Phantom Power'. Often it's 'Rings...'
It's not usually one of the first two or 'Love Kraft' though.
