hopefully it's someone playing a sick joke
actually by Goner Records http://www.goner-records.com/board/index.php
sad stuff indeed.
First Vic, then Roland, now this. :(
Truly sad, he'll be a big miss.
Wasn't a fan but 29... it's not right. Sad news.
i was gonna wear my jay reatard t shirt today, one that i haven't worn in about a year and a half. quite creepy.
anyway only 29...proper bonkers.
not CRAZY or INSANE (god love twitter) but very, very sad.
dude was 29. 29. He had half his life ahead of him.
"We are devastated by the death of Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., aka Jay Reatard. Jay was as full of life as anyone we’ve ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly."
I'm overcome with a sadness that belies the fact I was only a casual fan. RIP.
Just mental really. When I saw the thread title I thought it was definitely a stupid Jeff Bridges kind of a rumour.
Really sad. Watch me Fall isn't the most appropriate album for this, but I'm gonna go put it on really loud anyway.
Fantastic every time. Just non stop energy and fun.
...he was a reliably amazing live performer. This is horrible news.
terrible news, the two singles collections were superb records, there was clearly a lot more to come from him, this is a massive loss.
I just thought this was some stupid rumour as he courted so much controversy... Now feel strangely numb at his passing. Time to put Blood Visions, my favourite record of his, on I think.
Fucking rubbish news.
Was bloody entertaining.
Jack Rose, Vic Chesnutt, Roland S. Howard, and now Jay.. really shit few months for cool music.
Well, he knew his way round a catchy riff, didn't he? Really glad I managed to catch him in Camden last year.
i feel really sad now :(
This is too much though, he was way too young. I was genuinely shocked and disturbed to hear that he died, I guess the phenomenal rate at which he churned out music had me taking him for granted.
Too young. R.I.P
kept thinking it was the sick joke thing...
Really really gutted. Only saw him live a year ago.
Apart from the exploding hearts, but I was 12 when that happened and I hadn't hear of them so not sure they count. Fucking hell. This has ruined my 2010 indefinitely. Blood Visions was hands down my favourite album for a while, this dude more than anyone else got me into garage rock/punk.
Dunno if this makes me a nob or not can't tell right now, but if I didn't decide to go on my own to see him in November, I think I'd feel even worse now.
But I'm absolutley devestated. Like, fucking gutted.
I was a big fan since I first saw him, but always thought he was quite niche. Now he's in the top 10 search terms on Google at the moment http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends?sa=X&oi=prbx_hot_trends&ct=more-results
Looks like it was the pig aids what got him - bastard pigs
He's the only thing in the top 10 I've heard of
so 'Sex', 'Youtube' 'news' etc. aren't on it.
More importantly RIP, only saw him once, in 2008, chatted to him for a bit after the show and he was nice enough, seemed totally drained though from touring. In fact before the show he was napping, you'd not have known from the actual performance though. Wish I'd tried to see him last year now too.
to Blood Visions on the bus, classic record.
I wish I had someone to tell. I was only a casual fan, but I just feel like shit now.
It seems I'm not the only one here, though. Why is it Jay Reatard that inspires people who have never heard him really to be so sad? This isn't a complaint, just seems strange. I understand, though, somehow... this really sucks. No way this was supposed to happen.
He was the same age as me :(
dude had the chops.
i am now the age where people younger than me are dying.
29 is no age to die.
29, shit, no age to die at, i'd seen him live only 2 months back in Birmingham, and now he's dead. God Bless you Jay
Am I under exaggerating in thinking there must have been, 12 people there? I can't believe the place was leaking too! Did you see him come out before they were on and have a laugh about it? Him and the band were still great, despite how disheartening it must be to have such a turnout on the first day of the tour.
in London. Must have been pretty pissed off. He also had a go at the sound guy!
crowd wise that night, i'd guess at a high estimate maybe 25 - 30 people were there. Was a really good show though. As for the leaking roof, couldn't believe that, especially as the place had only been open 2 months at that point.
Being as young as he was, I'm intrigued..
Is this confirmed or what?
Probably got a tip-off from someone, and published it as news.
i call bullshit too.
About 2.30 of the way in it starts
such sad news
