A lot of ME stuff leaves me cold but this is just gorgeous. Every single track is sparse and beautiful, plus Julie Dorion's vocals really add to Phil's get it.
It's a little sketchy but it's free and a good introduction.
Then, yeah, 'Lost Wisdom' as h_k said, is fantastic.
Also, try and find the song 'I Whale'. It was a single, I think.
Come get introduced to them live.
Mount Eerie / No Kids / Killing Fields Of Ontario
What a price!
...I can never bring myself to charge over £5 for a show. Because that's the amount that I would never begrudge paying. It also means that if your travelling from outside of Sheffield you won't be spending too many pennies.
The Microphones - The Glow Pt.2
To my opinion, that is.
i've got that blud
I think it's awesome. Absolutely love that album.
Start with the last Microphones release called 'Mount Eerie' (if you havn't got it yet) then jump to the more subdued but lovely 'Lost Wisdom', then onto the roar of 'Wind's Poem'. These are easily the best of the lot. 'No Flashlight', 'Dawn' and 'Black Wooden' have good bits but can be a struggle I found.
but doesnt have the full elverum production works, and the versions on live from copenhagen are probably better as they were still fresh, mount eerie pts 6 and 7 is the best sounding
from a massive bookshop recently. the booklet/cd version looks so pretty - can't wait to read the whole thing & listen to it.
it feels a bit weird reading it because it is so personal
But my favorite is Wind's Poem.
