There hasn't been one in a while.
is better than Aja or Gaucho. FACTOID.
is married to someone who is in the current Steely Dan incarnation. She is also a top scientist and is really nice and took me out for dinner once and I got a bit drunk.
so much joy from not only their obvious hits, but the others too..
caves of altamira
never been to a gig like it before. so fuckin slick. they were incredible. weird that u dig pretzel logic over gaucho, pretzel's their weakest imo. katy lied is a treasure trove for the real heads
the first half of Pretzel is their best run of songs on any album.
But don't tell it to a poor man
Cos he's got to kill for every thrill
The best he can
Pretzel Logic was always considered their best work at the time, by critics and by fans. Well, I say fans. There was no internet, I was thirteen and it was basically me and this other bloke at school who had even heard of them. I'd still go with Pretzel Logic as their best elpee, although I love 'em all.
so fucking hot inside, had to take my shoes and socks off
I don't listen to them cos I imagine Don Fag watching porn while recording it (which was actually what he did afaik erghhh)
I like the Reelin In The Years guitar bits though
Field Music sound a bit like Steely Dan. (runs and hides)
Don Fag ^^ LOL - class abbrev.
Yes they have the established singles that everybody knows, but each album is LITERALLY packed to the gills (yes, literally) with hidden gems.
Some not metioned above:
Night By Night
Throw Back the Little Ones
Your Gold Teeth II
I fucking love how dark and sleazy their lyrics are, below that slick surface. And, better still, you can tell they are just total assholes in real life!
Saw them at Apollo in 07. Just brilliant. The version of Aja was mindblowing.
Are you gatherin' up the tears, have you had enough of mine?
They're ok. A bit jazz-fusion for my liking, but my mate at uni played them all the time. "Reeling..." is pretty wicked though.
to The Nightfly and it has got me interested in the Dan. So all day I have been listening to their albums on Lala and they are all great so far, started at the Cant Buy A Thrill and made it through Gaucho. Then I spent a few hours looking up lyric interpretations and that really opened my eyes (ears) to the greatness. Amazon has all these for like 5 bucks a piece so... purchases pending.
my top five Steely Dan sampled songs:
1____"Peg" and "FM"
De la Soul: Eye Know
Joe Public: Live and learn <- anyone remember this jam?
Ice Cube: Don't Trust 'Em
Organized Konfusion: Walk into the Sun
Brothers Like Outlaw: Trapped into Darkness
Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz: Deja Vu
Porn Theatre Ushers: Me & Him
Ex-Welsh Premier pros driven further in to debt by pre-I'm A Celebrity John Fashanu.
and die behind the wheel.
Don Fag's solo material is so good aswell.

But I feel like crying
Can't get any of their albums at the moment
