I'm curious. (and bored)
YOU'RE IN FOR IT NOW BRIGHTONB! YOU BETTER HAVE A DAMN GOOD EXPLANATION
more of them please
in fact, every time brightonb makes a vaguely obnoxious post, there should be a brightonb call out thread
I'm pretty sure there's no bat-signal esque call-to-arguments on one of the brighton rooftops, although I need to get me one of those, in the shape of a mighty phallus.
and Tescos? if they don't sell it on boomkat then it might as well not exist.
Not pubs. He goes straight to the source...
You don't go to Tescos. Man. I bet you buy all your vegan groceries in a fairly traded boutique. Good on you.
When's your next missive about how middle class and clueless we all are due by the way?
but anyway three questions:
1) how do you ascertain that I am middle class (other than the fact that I am spending time posting on an 'indie' web forum maybe - by which standard all of us are)
2) Are you middle class?
3) Is being middle class a bad thing?
are you working class?
I am genuinely interested. Seriously.
You reject Tescos etc on corporate ethical grounds. You are a househusband/DJ and you spend time posting on an indie music site.
If you aren't middle class - how do you define middle class exactly?
I would do a little checklist/quiz type thing, but I can't be arsed.
you'll never meet a poor upper class person.
Its only about money when it comes down to it.
If you earn fifteen grand a year and spend it on organic food and local produce (which doesn't seem at all a ridiculous notion to me) and dance singles that definitely does not make you middle class.
Class and money are not at all unrelated, but to suggest that they are one and the same is bollocks.
My Aunt married this plumber who is absolutley loaded, he has a very very nice expensive house but the way he talks, the way he dresses, the food he eats, the number of fat gold rings on his hands etc etc all proclaim him to be working class.
Similarly I know a Uni lecturer who earns fuck all. Lives in a litle one bedroom place. But eats brown bread, reads a broadsheet, works in a university.... you know?
Both absolutley top blokes too. Anyway...
Read 'Watching the ENglish'. It's very annoying in places, but she's certainly got a lot of the class distinctions well nailed.
aw man. I fucking love you
I'm pretty sure the working classes can't afford to get some quality produce.
what class do you consider yourself to belong to?
I don't normally give a flying toss but as you are the one who a) bandied 'middle class' around as an insult and b) seems to scorn tescos for independent retailers (I BET you buy organic when you can, don't you, don't you?) I'm more than a little confused.
Plus wouldn't you need to be middle class to even be able to afford to live in Brighton these days? Bloody hell this is like that old DiS thread from around six years ago when some well heeled type claimed to be working class on the sole basis that they once had a Saturday job at Dixons. Fucking hell.
He's right you know
money spent on TV is money you're not spending on dubstep 12"s.
a million channels and that, sports, etc. if you like that yeah, it's good. so shut the fuck up, you muppet.
fair enough if you're into live sports though I suppose
Because I see it as still twinned with the dark days of Thatcher when she stood against everything I stood for, and I consider it's news to be rubbish.
And now because the Tories essentially want to remove the BBC's monopoly and give it to Sky for no reason other than they push the neo-con message so successfully.
but I would sell my principles, my politics and (in all probability) my immortal soul to watch the test match from the comfort of my own sofa, so what you gonna do?
Definitely doesn't make you look like complete twats
Would be a pretty lame attempt if that's what I was aiming for...
There's some exemption clause in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights that says 'void in cases where person or persons start threads for no good reason slagging off the entire music board of Drowned in Sound'
Kofi Annan put it in in. Trufax.
that was about thr 499997th most offensive.
Middle class and clueless - anyone?
he says what he means and he means what he says so..www.amishrakefight.org/gfy/
