Romance Is Boring.
I'll say this: god damn.
Anyone else heard it? Orrr am I the only one who still listens to them?
but seeing as no promo copy has landed my way I've not actually heard it.
I'll wait 'til the release date and actually buy it, thanks
the new songs are great live.
He seems to be everywhere that lad.
srsly though, who is it?
i just realised i actually know. It suddenly clicked 'same username as other forums'...i'm a fool
Loved the new tracks they played live. But I think I can wait a couple of weeks and actually buy it
Hopefully won't play it to death but there's so much to to, musically and lyrically, everytime I put it on something new stands out. Was a little taken aback at first (its 15 tracks and, aside from two interludes, they're as busy as LC! always are). Very good. More than very good in fact.
And before I get drawn into that old argument, I have actually pre-ordered the album and did so months ago; I think I've balanced my desire to support the band with my desire to hear something I'm extremely excited for.
though not a mega stylistic change from "we are beautiful" this is a better album. though the production at times is too messy, especially on "Plan A" which even though its only 2 minutes long is the most torcherous song on there. songs like "i just sighed", "weve got your back", and "the sea is a good place" are all mint and some of los campesinos best.
although some bands could have lyrics like the one above and sound like a complete joke, to me los campesinos get away with it for their brazeness. irony or no irony. a good start to next year and a definite buy for me
That cover really is fucking awful though.
from Xiu Xiu- Women as lovers
Though it's even worse the cover of A Promise by Xiu Xiu, I'll give it that.
My first re-JAG-tions are here http://musosguide.com/los-campesinos-romance-is-boring-track-by-track/9170 . The more I live with it, the more I fall in love with it.
I read that while I was trying to find lyrics for We've Got Your Back. Great review =)
Plan A is the only track that I find myself wanting to skip, especially since it leads in to 200-102, which feeds Straight In At 101, which ROCKS. That breakdown at the very end about the most heartwrenching breakups of all time is one of the most brilliant moments since "We kid ourselves there's future in the fucking..." or the build-up to You! Me! Dancing!
And, Gareth, if you happen to read this: Sorry I downloaded the album. I didn't want to wait any longer to hear it. If it's any consolation, I pre-ordered it already. Sorry if I failed you =(
the proper one just sounds like Johnny Foreigner...
