I've never got what all the fuss is about?
is it a haircut thing?
It's Blitz is one of the best 80s synth rock albums of the decade
Show Your Bones is pretty poor but has Turn Into <3
It's my favourite YYYs song, easy.
It's Blitz is great, I keep meaning to listen to teh first two records.
when I saw them at Shep Bush Empire earlier this year but only because it has gone so 80's synth rock and I was really wanting the band that put out Fever To Tell and the Master EP (which would prob be in my top 10 EP's ever)
Not to say I don't like It's Blitz, I do, just not my preferred style
The Where The Wild Things soundtrack is great though.
That's just the recording. The stuff off of it is extra good when performed live.
Fever To Tell - Excellent record.
It's Blitz - Great album.
There really is nothing to 'get'. Take 'em or leave 'em. You're clearly not fussed, but don't worry about it. We're not gonna change your mind. Move on.
What a fucking great record.
is up there as one of my top tracks of ever. Couldn't say where exactly, but it's up there.
And I'll repeat my claim that there's nothing particularly oblique about the YYYs. It's pretty up front, accessible stuff, I'd have thought. We're not talking about delicately arranged 20 min instrumentals here.
It's dull compared to the other two.
It's simply a different side. It's not as fast but it's hardly full of ballads. The songs themselves are just as strong.
but as a whole its a choir to get threw, it's too long too
Have you turned into an Priest with spelling issues?
Although 'Gold Lion' is pretty skippable
It's massive. Prefer Fever to Tell, but some of the songs on SYB are amazing - Cheated Hearts, Gold Lion, Fancy, Turn Into...
I'm still not totally sold on It's Blitz, it's ok. Some great songs and some bits I just can't quite get into.
Three albums in, and - almost without me realising - they've become one of my favourite bands ever. That said, I hope they pick up the pace a bit on the next album. Gorgeous as they are, It's Blitz has 3 or 4 Maps-style tracks that I can barely distinguish from each other.
... and it is slow comparatively but still great... All the albums are great but the best YYY song IMO is b-side "Sealings"... Still reigning supreme as my favourite song all round.
Master & Maps EPs = 10
Fever to Tell = 9
Show Your Bones = 7
It's Blitz = 2? 3? (Amazing cover, though)
increasingly better. Fever to Tell, whilst good, is their weakest album, in my largely unThissed opinion.
I don't even remember the Master & Maps EPs? Or is that part of them?
Master is actually the self titled EP. Dunno about Maps EP. Is Is EP is largely overlooked despite being brilliant.
"Yeah Yeah Yeahs is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' self-titled debut EP, released in 2001 by the band's own label, Shifty. It is sometimes incorrectly called Master due to the prominence of a necklace bearing that word on the album's cover."
I'd never really noticed the necklace before! Wiki mentions the Is Is EP which I now realise I don't own.
A great example of a faultless between-albums EP of new material.
I'd like to punch her in the throat
Aswell as fever to tell, I suppose I prefer it that they've progressed rather than released 3 albums that sound the same. Show your bones is more thoughtout and a more complete album that fever to tell it seems to me (although they should have put deja vu earlier on in the album instead of the bonus track, turn into would have been such a perfect ending)
Show your bones also fits in to my theory that the best albums are orange.
I like the sound of this.
New thread please. :-)
JSBX's Acme would lend a certain amount of credence to this theory. Their album that was actually titled Orange had a mainly silver cover. Hmmm.
If you add together Suicide Invoice (yellow), Automatic Midnight (sometimes red, sometimes white it seems) and Audit in Progress you get orange so that backs things up.
Fuck the haters.
Aside from the amazing records, if you watch Karen O perform live and don't have a fucking amazing time then you must have something seriously wrong with you.
