DiScuss - or something like that.
Wolfgang... goes a bit "bleugh" halfway through.
It just goes "meh" then.
is still my favourite...
WAP easily the most consistent throughout. Rome, Girlfriend, Countdown don't immediately carry the same immediate weight as Lisztomania or 1901 but reveal themselves over time to be hook-laden gems.
This is just necessary revisionism to stimulate debate. It's Never Been Like That is great, but is let down by One Time Too Many and Lost and Found - filler if there ever was filler
Love for Granted is one of the best songs of the decade.
When I become a boy-band svengali, I will get his song released as a cover and it will get to number one.
maybe let's start a campaign to get Cowell to do a Phoenix week on X Factor? lulz
I will often say out loud "This is shit, why don't they have a Shudder to Think week?"
but probably because it has Love For Granted on it. If Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix had Love for Granted on, it'd be the best. But it doesn't. But it's still better than It's Never Been Like That, which is my least favourite Phoenix album, all told. Good solid song writing but missing the giddy daftness of United, the varied wonder of Alphabetical and the nostalgic magic of WAP.
