Converge Axe To Fall
Do people really think this is the best since Jane Doe, possibly better?
The reviews seem to be pretty unanimous on that but I don't see(hear) it.
For me it sounds, for lack of a better phrase, too cluttered. The widdly metal riffs, solos and having three 'last song' tracks at the end, for example.
It isn't as atmospheric as my favourites of their past work either, (Atmospheric in that sort of hypnotic trancelike way that you get with most of the best black metal I suppose I mean.) and there aren't many songs that really stand out or blow me away.
Not that it's a bad record by any means, but one of their all time best?
