at the drive-in
the blood brothers
stuff like that. suggestions please?
City Of Caterpillar
im not exactly sure on the confines of the genre, but i'd pick those anyway.
also, be sure to hear Mínus' 'Jesus Christ Bobby', though im not sure if its 'post' or not. its not straight-up hardcore anyway
Girls Against Boys (GvsB)
but do not neglect Circle Takes The Square. Their record 'As the Roots Undo' is pretty much the epitome of this kind of sound. It's got male/female and clean/screamed vocals, dense and vivid vocals, long structurally interesting songs that go for a series of emotional and musical climaxes rather than following verse/chorus.
Just get it already.
That's lovely, that is.
Think it was quite a low-key release, don't remember much press about it. Wiki imforms me that it's called Tail Swallower and Dove though.
The end is rubbish. The whole album is quite patchy, but it's got some incredible moments.
It's strange, because I really liked Easter, but kind of forgot about them after that. They should release a live album.
were a real band.
But I've been listening to Comeback Kid a lot lately...
dis-regard my previous statement.
I'd personally shove Fall of Troy into this category as well.
'Deer Lodge' off These Arms Are Snakes' Easter album is an amazing track!
Mescaline Eyes might be my fave.

Cat on Form
^ these guys are well worth checking out people.
but i reckon if you dig that lot some of the Constantines stuff would be up your alley
but in my opinion you need these in your life...
Poison the Well
This band has been blowing my mind recently – of the post-hardcore genre. Riffs like Quicksand and Orange 9mm. Amazing, amazing band.
I could say it a million more times and it still wouldn't be enough.
Small Brown Bike (newly re-formed)
Able Baker Fox (featuring members of SBB)
an essential addition to any collection.
other notable bands...
Reuben (racecar is racecar backwards)
Minotaur Explode are a good listen, although they were only together for a few months and only have 3 recorded songs. They had olly (original secondsmile vocalist) on vocals...which reminds me secondsmile - i am not romeo you are not juliet (or any secondsmile!).
Met the singer outside the crobar the other night as well. Seemed like a nice chap. Makes a difference that...
has reminded me of bands like
Lion of the north
it's all more kind of "DIY indie hardcore" whatever, but it's all good
