the band name and then, in tiny font (dj set)
wind me up something chronic
turned up at a venue to watch a band only to be greeted by a dj set then?
i've indeed often glanced at a poster and thought "ah wicked so and so is playi....ahhhh dj set" it's a tad annoying.
what annoys me more are the assumptions that just because someone plays in a band, it means that they must be a DJ worth paying money to see, and that they have a decent taste in music.
...charges a mere 850 + hotel to DJ.
when they are billed over a band who are actually performing live too.
Only been caught out once, but so many promoters are guilty of it, and its rarely the more prominent band members.
Not fussed about what they are paid, they wouldn't get the gig if the promoter didn't feel it would bring in that much revenue/kudos just narked when the fact its only a DJ set and advertised subtley.
...didn't find out it was a dj set until the tickets arrived in the post, it was on a Wednesday night, the place was empty and the dude from the Juan Maclean didn't start his set until after 1am. It was balls. My friend and I made friends with the other people on the dancefloor (all three of them), they came back to my flat with me for a little party, and my own flatmates called the police on us rather than come through to the kitchen and tell us to shut up.
