Hit me up with loads of great shit that'll get me through to the wee hours.
Maybe try some WFMU. Start with Mudd Up!
if you do a search for 'joe strummer' in itunes and look under podcasts, some hero has uploaded them all. the show was called London Calling
from Charlie Haden's Nocturnes to Legowelt or To Rococo Rot and from Steve Reich's Music for 18 musicians or You Are. Variations to Polar Bear's albums or Evan Parker's Time Lapse.
and if that is all to mellow switch to some Merzbow, Haino Keiji, The Thing or Vandermark 5
enjoy the writing!
till im essentially listening to exceptionally harsh static
also, is it weird i find the singer here oddly attractive?
thats pretty much how i want to look (minus leather pants. the 80's were a different time...)
Specifically Luomo's Vocal City or on a techno vibe, anything by Pole, Basic Channel or Villalobos.
These are all good, because they have beats, and uplifting synths to keep you awake, motivated and feeling good, but are also relaxing and don't distract your attention too much unless you want them to. The recently dis-tipped Unbalance by 2562 is also good for similar reasons.
well i'm nearly through and so far it isn't too stupid, just a little inarticulate and confused about its sexuality. should do nicely.
the purple ink is a nice touch.
Burzum, Deicide, Mayhem,
If you actually want some good essay music you need something pretty beatless, lyricless and ambient. Probably not the typical musical tastes of people on here, but good music to study to can be found on these two radio shows:
Yeah okay, they both do radio shows on the same station as myself, so it's a minor plug, but I'm not plugging my own, so it is actually a recommendation. Listening to my show would backfire horribly if you're trying to studying, far too raucous. But Does Not Affect Play's ambient special was pretty much bang on the money for good essay/exam music.
I've got a friend who helps around a bit there. I need to give these a listen sometime. I guess now that Glasgow Uni's exam time's come around this is pretty relevant too.
