cue tedious sniping from the usual suspects...
100 rare vinyl-only dubstep and deep house songs that no-ones ever heard of. I'm so angry I'm going to throw all the toys out of my pram. HMV 4 EVA.
100 is to low for Darkstar though they are something else.
I'm very excited about them coming with an album next year, they're going for a more song based thing it should be interesting.
then 2009 is music gold...
worse song on the album for me, I can't get over the kasabian style electro clash remix of a nu-metal track vibe of it.
kasabian was harsh, but you had to throw nu-metal in there for good measure! dude..
I wish it didn't but I cant shake it!
Die Slow is amazing!
Good to see Joker & Ginz (plus glowing write up), Gold Panda and Darkstar in there.
good on him
I don't think there is any going back now with Die Slow for me, I've given up on it haha The album is alright but I like the first a lot better.
It was great but sounded a little one-dimensional. The new one seems to do a far better job of capturing their live sound, which is certainly the finest aspect of HEALTH.
is where its at, but I think they lost some primal energy on the last record, the scizo physical brutality wasn't there or it was pushed into more song based stuff. The first one sounded like something mad and exciting the last one sounded more stright forward, not as free wheeling. I just think the songs are a bit more boring this time around somehow, even live. Its still good though, I'm just not as excited by this one as I was the one before.
Gonna be 'My Girls' innit?
Unless they feel like they don't want Animal Collective to top the songs and albums lists, in which case While You Wait for the Others maybe.
No surprise what is top.
1 - My Girls (Animal Collective)
2 - Stillness is the Move (Dirty Projectors)
3 - 1901 (Phoenix)
4 - Daniel (Bat for Lashes)
5 - Two Weeks (Grizzly Bear)
6 - Zero (Yeah Yeah Yeahs)
7 - Shine Blockas (Big Boi ft. Gucci Mane)
8 - Lisztomania (Phoenix)
9 - Lust for Life (Girls)
10 - Feel It All Around (Washed Out)
There's a distinct lack of variation this year with what's being picked up for EOY lists. True, some of the peaks were high and we've had top albums out; but they seem to be in fewer number this year than previously, so the DirtyGrizzlyWildHorrorPhoenixCollectiveYeahxx lot are walking it in almost every list, and it seems as if a large swathe of the 'tracks of the year' are just singles off those albums. Not always a bad thing but big standalone singles or ones that aren't immediately derived from the choice indie albums aren't coming as thick and fast as many other years in recent memory.
