On the topic of long forgotten Irish bands of my youth, what happened to:
Sultans of Ping F.C
sultans - still touring.
kerbdog - recently reformed
scheer - split up. some of the members were in lima, but they came to nothing
compulsion - guitarist garrett 'jacknife' lee is now one of the biggest producers in the business.
in 2001 (I think) after seeing they were on Setanta/hearing Underground. Really quite enjoyed that album. and then also bought their earlier albums Beauty Becomes More Than Life (which was great) and The Grand Parade. Not heard anything before or since though.
and the first album, and saw them a few times in the early 90s (including a show at Edward's No8 with Radiohead supporting- that's the equivalent of the Sex Pistols 100 club show in Birmingham, it seems!) but then kind of lost touch with what they were doing. They seemed to go all sensible, whereas I loved the daft image/heart wrenching songs juxtaposition. Are they worth chasing up these days? Setanta were ace, I loved A House http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwvV_WajG4k&feature=related
