let the fun begin
at Bombay Bicycle Club
Much better than expected.
Obviously there's loads of shit that the majors have paid to be included (ie. Lily Allen, does anyone really like her?) but apart from that a few surprisingly good albums such as Health, Fuck Buttons and Pains of Being Pure at Heart. I even like The Horrors album.
But I'd like 'to'...
(PS. That one about that Chemical Brother being shit in bed was good and 'The Fear' is one of the top 10 songs of the year. Possibly.)
Didn't we have this thread yesterday? And the day before?
I basically posted the above on it if I didn't imagine it.
If we had I possibly would've posted something like:
"There's some great stuff there. I still maintain that all of the Top 7 are vastly overrated records personally, but most of the rest of my top ten is lurking in that Top 50.
Good skillz NME."
Good to see Fuck Buttons in the top 10. But Lilly Allen? Really?
the order of this last year.
The fact that the NME is so dependably predictable is the reason it will not die out any time soon. People love to be reassured, especially the advertisers, and that is wat they do best.
better than i expected. there's only 4 or 5 real shockers in there (la roux, lily, florence, drums ep (!), empire of the sun)
that Rated O by Oneida is in the albums of the year
and Blood Bank by Bon Iver is in the tracks of the year
so not the shabbiest of efforts for once. Otherwise some fairly laughable entries, and Phoenix languishing way back at 34 is a big mistake.
Obvs. not a direct reply to manish's post.
