I wouldn't raise your hopes too high.

I've been craving a show by the Teasers for years now, but there's been nothing. (The one exception was when they were asked to support Mudhoney, which I had to fucking miss.) A couple of years back The Rebel was playing solo around London quite a lot, with Sophie on drums, but even that seems to have pretty much dried up.

I don't know if you've heard the Country Teasers/Ezee Tiger split 12" which appeared in the shops out of nowhere not too long ago. The new stuff is definitely more like a Rebel release, i.e. at the "outsider music" end of the spectrum without any of the old country and rockabilly influences of the Teasers. So it kind of seems as if Ben's turned his back on rock-based music and maybe he doesn't see the point of playing with the full band.

Just so you know, there's practically no-one on Drowned in Sound who gets it. One meathead who saw them at the Mudhoney gig even claimed that the lyrics were "unintentionally funny".

    • They did a short tour earlier this year

Edinburgh, Newcastle and Brighton I think. They also played at the Horse Hospital last July. Wallers played as the Devil last week

Have you heard the Rebel lp on Sacred Bones records?

      • thanks, I'd forgotten about those gigs

        The flame flickers yet.

Haven't heard the new LP but I've got quite a few of the songs on other releases. Mostly I find his solo stuff weirdly lacking in the spark of genius that exists in the Teasers, but he definitely has his moments. Bums On A Rock is a great little tune.
