Reel Big Fish
The Sea And Cake
Bumsnogger
MC CrabbyCrab
Monkfish
It seems to have come from nowhere.
(yet it clearly came from the sea)
I knew I should never have started the solo artist thread
this has really put me in my plaice.
it's clearly Pollack
on account of it coming in to take over from the endangered species you've mentioned above, and it's later renaming as Collin
Halibut.
Not after all the trouble they caused in Iraq.
Whale
Not strictly speaking a fish, but I like being a bit 'out there'
not at all 'out there' anymore. All the scenesters jumped on the
whale bandwagon last year.
It's all about the crustaceans now. They're well underground.
Hard one.
The early part of the decade belonged to the mullet, which had been laying low for much of the '90s. But then, the jellyfish appears to be taking over the world now - capsizing boats and destroying salmon farms and the like. Not really fish though, now I come to think of it. So fashion mullet it is.
penguin
no one can beat a penguin
Wanna bet?

Cod
bigger in the 90's, true, but I prefer it since they've been a bit harder to find.
Sea Bass
Amazing, especially with a nice Italian-styled tomato sauce.
Codflesh
Skatebreed
Less Than Hake
I don't like fish to look at or to eat
maybe the shark from jaws if it's still alive

Guppy (Poecilia reticulata)
...
The guppy (Poecilia reticulata), also known as the millionfish, it's one of the most popular freshwater aquarium fish species in the world.
Wolfgang Amadeus Breamix
Right, yes? Maybe?
This is my favourite thread EVER
Generic "White Fish"
In Tesco frozen value packs.
Apparently, you people have never had a shark steak sandwhich!
And neither have I.
It's really a tail of two halves
Cod were going great guns at the beginning of the decade. Mainly due to their juicy, oily livers. I remember a lot of old people doing the twist at just the mere mention of cod, flexing their supple joints like it was 1958 all over again. Of course towards the end of the decade, what with the economic decline, goldfish became the real nugget. People would say "Exchange your goldfish for CASH!" or "WONGA!" (if they had learning difficulties). People wanted any kind of goldfish, broken, plated, even the really old ones that had turned bright silver. What a decade that was.
Ya mama got a glass eye...
with a fish in it.

or should I say...

^fish
Patagonian Toothfish
really was the buzz fish of the decade.
It was underground in the 90s but busted out worldwide in recent years.
I can only speak for the southern hemisphere, though.
The Anchovy
Due to the bad press it received from my hero, the pizza worshipping Michaelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Hero/Ninja Turtles "AAANCHOVIES?!!? NO WAI DOOOD!!", I had never eaten one until the early 00's. Since, I have been a regular consumer. Between 2006 and 2008 there probably wasn't a week that went by where I didn't eat at least one meal that involved anchovies, often several a week.
The ultimate three topping create your own :
Anchovies, Jalapenos, Black Olives.
what a load of old carp
Give me a groper anytime
Har dee har. How about best piscatorial tunes? 'Weird Fishes' by Radiohead, por ejemplo
It's controversial, but I'm tempted to roll with Florence and the Sardine
I mean, she's single handedly credited that fish with writing the songs that launched her career.
Most of you have chosen mainstream seawater fish which makes me a bit sad
clearly this has been the year of the barbel, followed by the tench but I guess you guys just wouldn't understand.
I once caught a Guitar fish...
Can I have that one?
coley is a real new discovery for me
but i've been enjoying it more and more with repeated visits. It gets my vote, and hope it goes from strength to strength in 2010
Ladies and gentlemen i give you the pacific barreleye fish aka transparent fish:
