Beck's "Harry Partch" tune.
It's crazy as hell. I'm not usually a huge Beck fan, but this definitely has some cool parts. Fantastic production as well, the mix is pretty glorious.

Love it.
Its all over the place, perfectly fitting for Beck's career.
I think it's great that all that Fiery Furnaces nonsense
has got people talking about Harry Partch, who is a massive genius, and isn't really appreciated enough when going through the important classical composers (Reich etc.)
And I'm not a Beck fan, but quite like the tune; reminded me a bit of Ty Braxton's last album.
...
Steve Reich is a classical composer?
he's from the classical tradition.
Cds of his music are sold by classical labels.
His music is performed at the Royal Festival Hall etc. in classical performances, by orchestras.
He's obviously minimalistic and experimental, but I'd stay he's still classical really. More so than someone like La Monte Young, or even possibly Harry Partch.
I love both Beck and Partch
what's this then?
This is why I don't like Beck.
His music is the equivalant of putting the entire contents of Asda's cereal aisle into a bowl for your breakfast when really you would've just been happy with cornflakes.
This is why I love Beck.
No way,
this is the sonic equivalent of a John Arne Riise volley.
it's one of the best things he's ever done
i'm off to go listen to it again.....
i listened to some Harry Partch last night
was pretty cool. probs listen again some time.
fucking hell this is great
is this indicative of any other beck stuff? never paid him *that* much attention, has he a treasure trove of similar material?
