Why not just make your entire album one single track?
for one credit on emusic
You can make tracks only available with a full album download and price it at 7.99 or something.
In all seriousness I think musicians trying to make you listen to their albums all the way through, and not skip bits, would be pretty annoying.
I don't think Battles would be very happy.
and torrent anyways, so the illegal downloaders would end up with an easier to use product thatn those paying for it.
Unless you mean one album long piece of music, which as the few bands crazy enough to try it well tell you, is hardly a moneyspinner in the first place.
in terms of money they'd get from their label.
there are many reasons why this is a bad idea.
50 Foot Wave did this with Power+Light earlier this year
Is that while they're obviously very keen on the album format, love working with it and are not pleased about its (supposed) death, why won't they, you know, continue making what they think is lovely and important rather than just go with some half-arsed "only releasing singles from now on"/"next album will just be random tracks in random order" decision they're obviously not so keen on?
agonising about the death of the album and helping the situation by er...not making a new album.
