Tickets available on Seetickets now.
I'm on holiday : (
does this clash?
yes it does.
I don't want to pay Seetickets charges.
Wrote to the Barbican wondering when they would start sellin gtickets (I'm a member so it's worth about a fiver a go for me to wait). Here's what I got back in response.
"The “Magnetic Fields” concert will officially go on sale on the 19th November.
"Thank you for making us aware of the SeeTicket advertisement; they have not been authorised to sell tickets for this event and this is being investigated."
Fucking Seetickets! Not only are they abusing their dominance in the market, but they're fucking cheating crooks, too.
Anyone fancy a campaign against these cunts? They get enough of our money, the fuckers.
Hopefully I'll be able to get something decent direct from the Barbican on Thursday.
they have now been withdrawn from seetickets LOL
I saw that Seetickets were selling tickets at different prices depending on where you're sat. 'Top Price Front Stall Tickets' were about £25. You get a Row J ticket. Seetickets are total scum. They'd be ideal Estate Agents. They're spineless, selling what's not theirs to sell. Wankers.
but what can you do, apart from use other ticket sellers, which I do at the moment wherever possible(it's not hard as they are always the most expensive). I suspect the majority of the ticket buying public are quite happy to use seetickets, especially if they don't go to a lot of gigs, as they probably aren't even aware of their extra charges.
It starts with not using them, but that makes no difference unless you a) let people know why and b) make it easy for others to follow suit. Then you have to keep pushing until they get the message.
In the meantime, you need an alternative means of getting tickets (eg buying direct from venues, forming a network to buy in bulk and sell on to the right people, etc)
By the way, most ticket agents are shit, and I see no reason for targetting Seetickets alone.
Great to see that the Barbican have stuck it to Seetickets, meanwhile. Arsewipes.
To cover the cost of such an operation I will only sell tickets at face value with a minimal 20% booking fee.
OK anyone need me to buy them some tickets?
Last time I saw him I think it was just him solo. Is it a full band now I take it? Does he still play old stuff or is it more recent stuff. I might go to this.
Is he/they really big enough for the Barbican? A bit out of touch, but used to be quite into them before I lost the way.
last time i saw them was at cadogan hall which is about half the size of the barbican
It was Stephin, Claudia, Shirley and then the two other guys. The set included a lot of Distortion, but then plenty of songs from their other albums as well as The 6ths, The Gothic Archies and his solo stuff.
and it was piano, cello, guitar and the cheery one on mandolin
They're selling tickets again. Shit seats too.
Grassed them to the Barbican for that as well.
Is this basically how the Stasi worked? :-D
since reading this thread though the pennys dropped I'll be in Texas ;-(
this has been a confusing and upsetting episode in my life.
I just see an info button, but no booking button unless the internet is conspiring against me
as mentioned by theno further up this thread

But £45 is taking the piss. No thanks.
and there are cheaper seats. It's also at the Barbican so you get a big comfy leather seat.
becuase otherwise he is dreaming if he'll fill the Barbican at that price
get a ticket from Seetickets when they had them on sale yesterday and the day before. Fuck Seetickets.
Apparently See acknowledged their mistake, and tickets will still be valid.
Apparently. Starting to wish I hadn't got tickets for the London show now, living in Manchester and everything. S'pose I will just have to go and see them twice.
The Magnetic Fields will head off to Europe for a short string of shows in March following their final US dates:
19 Mar: MANCHESTER UK / Cathedral
21 Mar: LEAMINGTON UK / The Assembly
22 Mar: LONDON, UK / Barbican Centre
24 Mar: STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN / Filadelfiakyrkan
25 Mar: OSLO, NORWAY / Rockefeller
27 Mar: BERLIN, GERMANY / Babylon
29 Mar: HAMBURG, GERMANY / Fabrik
30 Mar: FRANKFURT, GERMANY / Mousonturm
31 Mar: AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS / De Duif
having severe problems ordering Manchester tickets? This ticket ordering site is god awful.
