I agree.
It always reminds me of Neon Lights by Kraftwerk, so Man-Machine maybe?
The Blue Nile is the best at heartbreaking electronic music anyway.
Get 'High' or 'Walk Across the Rooftops'.

Neon Lights is a great comparison.
see also New Order's 'Your Silent Face'.
I agree
I hadn't listened to it in a while and when I recently had an LCD Soundsystem session I was overcome with nostalgia when this song came on. I can even now picture James Murphy singing it at Academy 1 in Manchester; that was such a great moment.
This is 45:33 pt 3
with a vocal over the top. I prefer the instrumental, I think James Murphy is a much better producer than he is vocalist. There is enough going on in the track, doesn't need the vocal imo.
45:33 Pt 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqcBNhiPQsQ&feature=related
not just any vocal though is it?
the lyric's about a friend of his who died. pretty deep stuff
Really?
I still think it's weak to be honest. 45:33 is the best thing LCD have done by a country mile, I don't rate Sound Of Silver at all.
the one-two of that then all my friends really hits me every time i hear them
two of my favourite songs of the decade
A personal opinion:
Without this song and then 'All my friends' following one another, SOS would be a 6 or 7 / 10 album at best.
A further personal opinion:
Even with this song and'All my friends' it's a 5/10 at best.
remove two of the best tracks of the decade from an album and it drops in quality?
Controversial.
Damn you and your common sense.
But I don't think much else stands up well from it, that was my point. 'NAScum' was like 'Daft punk...' part two and rather forgettable. 'Watch the tapes' and 'Time to get away' sounded like excerpts from an old Fall album or even off-cuts off of LCD's debut.
'Get innocuous' was a good track but a shameless rip off of a song that escapes me right now. 'SOS' was ok, but a bit throwaway, and 'NYILYou' was... well, a bit embarrassing really?
I liked 'Us vs them' though.
Yeah, I was being a little facetious.
You're right. A little like the first album, there is a lot of DFA-by-numbers stuff in there.
More cowbell!
However a Best of LCD Soundsystem record
will be top drawer. I'm starting to think that I actually prefer their debut on recent listens?
Though 45:33 trump both for me anyhow...
i was listening to the album for the first time in 2007
and i was enjoying it. the start of someone great had me suddenly stop what i was writing and sit and listen. the lyrics totally got me. after it finished i knew that it had jumped into my favourite songs ever. then, after the next song, the album was in my favoruite records of all time.
simply a watershed moment.
