Worst Album Of The Year?
Apologies if we've had this before
My vote goes to the little-talked-about debut from Kissy Sell Out, called Youth. Its diabolical. I'd throw it away but I think my bin would spit it back out

Kasabian
Weezer
antlers wasnt a debut
Kasabian "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum"
White Lies
that 'lets grow old together, and die at the same time!!' refrain verges on offensive
I disagree
it's really nowhere as bad as people make it out to be. Not great, but far from the worst all year.
Raditude?
Or would that be a cop-out?
I think it probably is. It's like saying something the Jonas Brothers did was the worst. I realize that I wasn't meant to enjoy it, at all.
However, I was remarkably displeased with the most recent mewithoutYou album. I couldn't even bear to listen to it a second time.
Kasabian "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum"
It is so bad I had to post it twice, It's truly dreadful album with it's fake overly contrived album title. The vocals are a new low from a smug git who can't sing and a voice like death he is so bad that as to be vomit inducing and the lyrics! laughable, some of the worst and most painful I have ever had the displeasure of hearing.
also:
Kid Harpoon "Once" A certified turkey turd of an album. I will slit me wrist if I ever had to hear it twice.
Definitely
Kid Harpoon. Some early promise + about a ten year wait = complete overwritten, overproduced shite
The xx.
Only has one decent song on it
The xx debut album isn't that great, although i do enjoy that song, 'Basic Space'.
Yeah it's probably not the worst
but being a wag I couldn't resist posting it.
I guess to me it just sounds like an expensive shirt.
It sounds trendy, and that's never a good thing.
Maybe most overhyped,
but surely not worst of the year. The music is harmless.
You dont mean it Luis.
Worst album COVER of the year is what you must have read?
Nah, it's not the worst
but it's so relentlessly overpraised that I couldn't resist.
dananackroyd is probably the worst i've paid money for
i can't put my finger on why but for such a lively album it ultimately feels hollow and a bit boring to me.
or jarvis album, for not being as satisfying at the last one
who are Dananackroyd?
yeah, agree with Danananan
a shame, because I really love them live and was hoping for an album to match.
dude
I got a feelin' was a choooooooooon (actaully was)
kinda this.
their singles off that album were a million times better than anything theyve released in the past
No, they aren't
Thy're the worst thing in the world.
Weirdly
I agree with you both.
tough call...
Jack Penate's is pretty awful, Patrick Wolf? The Editors album's hard to digest aswell but for my money it has to be Black Eyed Peas- The END (of all that's decent about mankind)
Patrick Wolf on par with The Black Eyed Peas?!
Eh, naw mate!
is it that bad?
i've heard his show on Radio 1 a bit, it all seems pretty inoffensive
i dunno what the worst album of the year is tbh.. only listened to about 2
What's with the hesitation
to get into new stuff?
i have no impetus to do it
it doesn't matter if i listen to it now or in a years time. I don't really give a shit about Pitchfork approved indie stuff, and most other genre experts are too broad/niche to convince me to explore their recommendations. I don't really download music, i can't afford to buy much anymore, and i have a fuckload of CDs i've barely dug into
that DJ Quik album is class though..
Makes sense.
I could probably stand to take a year or two off of new music and just dive into what I already have.
Oh,
and yah, that Quik album is great, glad you dig. Ill hit you with his some of his other stuff sometime. Dude knows how to lay a beat down.
I'm not trying to be funny (obviously)...
...but why do you come here if you are not in to new music? Shouldn't you read Mojo?
i'm not trying to be funny
but shut up, you nonce
come on
you can do better than that....oh wait, no you can't.
i agree
about Black Eyed Peas. dislike isn't an appropraite enough negative.
I dislike/don't get Jack Penate's.
also-
i think the White Lies stuff is pretty harsh, it is nowhere as bad as some of the stuff thats come out
Chris Cornell
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAM
Now we're talkin'
he'll probably end up being the new Aerosmith singer
We have a winner
I find this such a shame I could almost cry.
Cornell's had a staggering career. From the unequivocally amazing Soundgarden to the slightly derivative Audioslave, to a simply brilliant and heart breaking debut solo album, Euphoria Morning. And yet, somehow... the followup was half-arsed but at least prepossesed with some nuance and dignity and featured the best Bond Theme in god knows how long, and then the turgid, lumpen, totally illadvised slice of fail that is Scream.
WHAT HAPPENED?
no, everything he touches is bullshit.
Its the 80's tihng...
With editors & Penate it's the wholesale bandwagon jumping thats embarrasing! There's actually been some pretty good synthy type albums this year, Cold Cave for example or Fever Ray... But even stuff like Bat For Lashes has been tainted somewhat by this new fashion rehash!
And of course no-ones mentioned the sheer horror of Empire of the Sun!! Luke Steele's even made me need to skip the 1st track on the Jay-Z album!
Dan Black
I think is the most dire of what I've heard, but there has been albums by Black Eyed Peas, The Twang and The View that I've thankfully been spared. It's probably one of them, though
This is a very hard question to answer
It takes a lot of time spent listening to stuff for me to feel comfortable I've found my favourite album of the year. And with bad albums... its not like I've put the research in. I try hard not to listen to bad albums and when i stumble upon one it only gets listened to once, so its hard to recall.
Having said that, the new Manics album is so, so poor.
really disliked the micachu
so annoying
If I was choosing my biggest disappointment
That could well be it. I liked two previous singles but the album just sounded... horrible. I tried really hard with it because it had so much potential to be good, but in the end I just found it impossible to enjoy.
I'm still convinced she has the potential to make a good album.
Jonsi and Alex
Riceboy Sleeps. Meandering dullness. Rough Trade Album Club fail.
That Chris Cornell has to be the worst
but I'm gonna nominate a band called Hockey. Shit sandwich.
The Horrors
is the worst I've heard I'm gutted I even bothered giving it a chance. Same with Phoenix, that was really lame. I was disapointed with Danana... as well it's not the worst but I thought it would be a lot better. Those Two Dancers guys where boring too, I liked the singing but the music was so shite. I wasn't keen on Animal Collective either. I pretty much gave up on sub-mainstream indie at that point, I might try again next year...
I'm gonna say Why?- Eskimo Snow
It's probably not the worst record of the year, but it's the worst I've bought.
KEEP TRYING!
IT'LL CLICK!
The Enemy- Music For The People
It has to be The Enemy
Nearly every single song sounds like a classic from the past. The Clash, Pulp, The Beatles. It's inccredible how it isn't illegal!
It has to be The Enemy
Almost eveyr song on the album sounds like a classic form the past. The Clash, Pulp, The Beatles. It's incredible how what they've done isn't illegal!

The Cribs - Ignore The Ignorant
Maybe not the worst but defiantly the most disappointing
either
The Virgins
or
Pens
The Emmy the Great album
Awful.
Eoghan Quigg
for all the world it must be...
