unbelievable. up there with my favourite xiu.
but dont know what took so long as the album sounds almost exactly the same as the myspace demos (unless I accidentally downloaded the demos), the bull and the ram is probably the best song of 2009
Though Jamie's contributions are subtle, they certainly add lots to the songs. All the synth strings and backing vox which weren't on the demos.
this and the Zol Jesus album are current faves. any possibility of a UK tour?
new Xiu Xiu album is done and out first part of next year, isn't it?
jamie stewart doesn't need to be involved in the live shows as he's not too heavily involved in the recordings.
also the dates on the myspace seem to be freddy ruppert solo.
ah man, i'd love to see a xiu xiu/former ghosts/zola jesus collaborative tour with solo sets so much
is just totally consuming.
This is my album of the year by miles.
my album of the year.
probably the best thing i've heard since ys or something.
Itunes/eMusic don't seem to have it.
white. free postage from UTR! too, i think. then you can download it and not feel guilty (Y)
but i have a feeling i'm just gonna have to wait until after christmas, not very clever buying things for myself when i have presents to buy.
it's worth losing friends for. or something.
on something, lyle. hooray
We agree on a lot of things and we disagree on a lot of things.
Probably because we both listen to too much music...
oh man this is so amazing
I think I'm just gonna order it...
It's really nice.
I've got about 6 or 7 tracks that aren't on the album, which are all really great and think some might go towards an EP next year or something.
It's criminal how little press coverage this album has received. Not in a "WHY ISN'T THIS IN THE NME???" way, but in a "has the record company/online pr done anything to draw attention to it?". A real shame, as I think it's a masterpiece, and far and away the best thing I've heard this year.
there's a link to the cover. There's a cover he did of Naive Melody as part of a podcast around, too.
"I am working on new songs for the next Former Ghosts full length.
I can't believe I am typing that with my history of quitting music/bands "forever" on a pretty consistent basis.
Mailing Jamie and Nika some files soon.
I went into it thinking things were going to come across darker and more textured this time around. With a kind of specific idea of textured sound in mind.
But so far, the handful of things I have been working on are coming out poppier. Go figure.
We will see how this ends up." oh MAN.
talking heads cover:
song on here:
a song as part of this:
pretty great. mostly just an index for me to find all these things as this thread is the 3rd result you find for former ghosts on google.
but found it in a second hand shop for two quid so thought i'd give it a bash. might do that sometime tonight.
I got it last night through looking at the last loved tracks of my LastFM friends. where I saw that eight_red_coins, aka Nestor, had loved several tracks from Fleurs.
I downloaded it from eMusic.
it's bloody amazing!
wouldnt say amazing, but rly enjoyable and pleasant
if anyone's interested, freddy's given permission to download loads of really good rare tracks and unreleased demos here:
I wonder how much of the line-up there'll be..?
for bringing this to my attention. so much.
17th may - cardiff, 10ft tall
19th may - leeds, the common place (I'M PUTTING THIS ONE ON)
20th may - dublin, twisted pepper
22nd may - london, luminaire
This has also reminded me that I've not listened to 'Headless' by Tearist yet this week
ive had to that ep on all evening. so great
but exciting nonethless!
