The Mercy Seat by Nick Cave
Does anyone else think the production is a wee bit off? It is still a cracking tune but if the drums were recorded a better or higher in the mix it could have been so much better

yeah, that whole albums kinda weak sounding
the vocals are thin too. Should be a song that chills you to the bone like "Song Of Joy" but it falls a bit short I think- mainly to the production.
Yes
always though "Deanna" sounded real flat too, almost MONO
strange cause i think Flood had a hand in that production
I think it is being/has already been? remastered
It would sound amazing with good production. It still sounds amazing now but would be more so if it wasn't a bit thin.
I quite like how sorta cold it sounds
but i'm sure i'd heard a more bassy kick-ass version of it before I got this album. Maybe a live one idk
Good tune anyway!
i really like the version on Live Seeds
Fucking hell
Just listen to the Live Seeds version.
Superior in every way imaginable. As unrepentant and murderous as the subject matter.
defo
I think the single edit is better
I also love that weird gospel version on the acoustic Tender Prey companion EP, there's some amazing live versions on youtube too! YEH!
this song live
chilled me to the bones and then burned me to ashes
less effective on the album though, would have to agree
