Worst cover versions
While it's by no means the worst of all time, the fact that Primal Scream's version of Motorhead was recorded and released without anyone saying 'this is a bit toss and pointless, Bobby' is testament to just how much cocaine everyone in the music industry was on by 1997.
Anyone got any personal 'faves'

I came here to post this.
Horrendous cover.
I didn't know about this till now
Totally ruined my evening
I weep.
even though I love both bands
love will tear us apart - Broken Social Scene
this night has opened my eyes - at the drive in
are both horrible
Love Will Tear Us Apart — The Cure
because Joy Division's sound and The Cure's are, like, poles apart!
i reckon if kevin drew had sung it in his normal voice
it'd have been a really cool cover...
This - http://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Soon-Now-Songs-Smiths/dp/B0002CA2AE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1257340954&sr=8-2
The worst Smiths cover I've heard isn't on that album
Placebo's version of Bigmouth Strikes Again:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jynnZqwWeI
The turd on the cake is when he changes it to sing "and her discman started to melt", which grated then and now somehow makes it sound even more dated than the original.
'discman'
:'D
Even worse
The second time around he sings Megadrive. That's just stupid.
Although when Moz sings it live now, he sings iPod.
But of course that doesn't justify what Placebo has done.
Has there ever been a GOOD cover of a Smith's song!?
i quite like Schneider TM's version of There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
Low doing Last Night I Dreamed Somebody Loved Me
is pretty good
Dont
mind the Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want cover by clayhill
I am very fond of Jeff Buckley's cover of I know It's over
VOMIT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYJs3ajxvQI

I quite like this but then I didn't mind the Tori Amos cover...
christ almighty.
this - hands down - is the worst.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzBjatkVtzY&feature=related
Wow
Nirvana murdered that song
I love the way they haven't given Mark any pedals for his guitar, just to make it sound even more like a bunch of schoolboys covering it for their first gig!
I really wasnt expecting that such great heights to hurt my ears so badly.
scary
Why is this in a Worst Covers thread?
That's better than the original. Which, to be honest, is not saying very much at all.
Any cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart
Broken Social Scene's, The Cure's, Fallout Boy's, Jose Gonzalez's, need I go on? All fucking terrible.
How about
Squarepusher?
Its pointless cover versions I hate
Amy Studt 'All I Wanna Do' stuff like that
Frankie Howerd and June Whitfield doing a bizarre version of Je t'aime... Moi Non Plus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzOsUAPZGn8
Not the worst ever
But I fucking hate what he's done to this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwGbx82tMv0

One Night Only were 'performing' a cover of Sugababes 'About You Now' at a gig I was working once.
I believe they may have heard me tell the in-house monitor engineer that I was going to kill them for it. Not very professional of me, but I was pretty angry
